It is really hard to beat the Oregon State Parks on the Coast but I have found that I can often find private parks for less money but I loose some great views doing that..I have also in the past told parks, that I had unhooked earlier as I had, we did that in Ohio.

Just got back from a Sounder Sam camp out. We went to Raymond and had a very good time with 11 rigs there. You local Kitsap people should think about joining us, dues are only $10 a year and we have some great campouts..

Sorry Bigdog, but for our preferences, I haven't found any private parks that I would chose to pay the extra money for over one of the Oregon SP down here on the coast, even with the extra $5/night. That is still less than $30/night and you can't find a private park with the location, location, location even close to that price. Let along the parking lot atmosphere and closeness you have in a private campground!!

I kind of think that it may have been a younger ranger, so next time I will just say our "tow car" or that we unhooked earlier!! Like I said, I can't get excited over another $5/night, but find it hard to figure out why the change if unhooked!! [emoticon][emoticon]

I see that our Oregon members haven't been able to supply a reason, so they must be as stumped as I am!![emoticon]

Off to Cape Lookout SP tomorrow (Monday), with a stop at Tillamook for cheese and ice cream. Will probably stop first in Garibaldi for clam chowder and/or fish and chips.

Hope the heavy rain is over. It really dumped here for about 3 hours, now only occasional sprinkles.

Take care everyone.

Should be an interesting weekend for the puppies and the Cougars.I scored some good tickets and am taking my SIL to the game Saturday. We have to go to one of his friends house at 12:30 for the Notre Dame game and that'll be noisy and then over to the Q-link for UCLA-WSU game. Could possibly be wet

We have survived a month living in our trailer with no major issues so far. Got the DSL connection for the computer (cheaper and faster than the park's wi-fi). Trying to decide if I want to go with a satellite for TV for a little less money and a lot more channels than the park's cable.

David,

Both Direct & Dish offer new subscribers good deals for first time subscribers with a 2 year contract. Direct also has the NFL ticket free for newbies if your a football fan, but they don't offer the PAC-12 package. I think Dish offers that one. We have been using Direct while we traveled fulltime and now switch between Fed. Way and SC. The rates are higher than the intro after the first 2 years, but I keep extorting them for other free add ons each year!

Got the dish set up down here at South Beach SP for this weekends football games! Have heard that there is a big wind and rain storm due to hit the Oregon coast on Sunday. Beautiful day today for the LONG drive from Cape Lookout SP to here just south of Newport. Will be out tomorrow with the camera back north for the scenic views.

Oh, for what it's worth, the last 2 state parks haven't charged us for the Prius!!

Take care all.

Oh Maannnnnn,it looks as if I'm gonna get wet today. Got my sweatshirts,Gore-tex pants and parka and one of those PVC ponchos that you buy in the camping section of Ace Hardware. Going to be wearing pants for the first time since sometime in May.Now I've gotta find my rubber boots or at least re-waterproof my shoes.Me3bbee wrap them in clingfilm.

Ahh, football in the NW! U of O and OSU both play today--40 miles apart. Good time to stay off I-5 from Portland south! Actually the weather is bad--I wouldn't tackle I-5 today. Even here in the valley we are having wind and rain. Ron is going to have fun at the coast, with 60 mph winds predicted. Better tie the Prius down! This storm series is ranked up there with the larger ones in November and December--very unusual for September. I have to go to a funeral in West Salem today--not looking forward to the drive. Highway 22 from Sublimity to Salem is only 12 miles, but it is open and the wind really moves a small car around. I think I've seen the end of my 50 mpg mileage for the year. Rain will probably break an all time September record by Monday--3 inches predicted. Guess it is making up for the dry summer.....

Linda - right you are!! It has just been pounding down here and the rig has been rocked around several times and not from the fun way!![emoticon]
It's been raining so hard that it has been blocking out my satellite signal.

I just had the dogs out for their late afternoon "swim" and only saw one tent holdout still here!! Can't see how he's dry, every site has standing water in it. He did have a great fire going until about an hour ago when it got drowned! If I was him, I'd have headed for a motel long ago!

Bigdog - be ready - your going to get soaked tonight! I'll try to spot you in the crowd shots - ha! ha!

It has been raining so hard here that the "lake" (pond) is filling up and getting closer to the rear of the trailer. [emoticon] It's gonna have to rain a whole lot more to be a real problem, which I doubt will happen.

I haven't seen any ducks or geese on the water today. I wonder if they're hiding under all of the RV's.

Ron,
Bad weather is one thing I worry about with getting a sat dish. All the ones I've seen in the park have been DirecTV.

Wow - the BIGDOGS - and by that I mean the HUSKIES - won, the Seahawks almost caused me to have an ulcer today, but unfortunately the Cougars got hit with a dose of reality of finding out that their not quite ready to compete with other PAC 12 big dogs! Bigdog, just remember, it takes time to get the players in your system that you want, so don't blame the Cougar coach for last nights beating!! [emoticon] I'm just hoping that the Huskies really are getting to that next level of being able to stay with the Oregon schools this year!! Tired of them running up and down our backs!! [emoticon]

Here we still sit at South Beach SP in Newport thinking that we should still have the sailboat with us! Looked online and our site is open for Mon. & Tue. I think that we will sit here Mon. yet, as the winds are still forecast up to 25-30, gusts to 50 from here south then dropping Mon. night and Tues. Tuesday sounds like a better travel day on south.

The one intrepid tent camper across from us finally packed it up this morning, of course, that may have been his plan anyway! Can't see how he had anything dry inside his tent!

Would sure like to know how much rain has fallen down here the past 3 days. [emoticon] Has to be close to double digits!!
