hey all, been reading along time, and just signed up because of this thread. i've been looking at the prices listed on the inventory at CA and EM... what kind of negotiation are people averaging on these listed prices? none? 5% 20%?
would be nice to know what's possible going in. thanks!

Maybe CA have changed since we got ours in 2008 but there was no negotiation. Or maybe negotiation just location where you buy, not sure? Or maybe on the unit you get?
But we got awning and A/C and new battery were thrown in with our purchase. They said they could not come down on price but would add items mentioned above.

Bought my 2001 Ford E450 with 2000 Fleetwood 29Z coach used from a dealer in 2005. It had been a rental (hence the leftover 2000 coach mounted on a 2001 Ford chassis), then privately owned,then traded to our dealer before we bought it. No slides, vinyl floor, aluminum sink. We still love it. Early on we added a Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer and Bilstien shocks. This made a HUGE difference in driving. I would buy a rental again. Mine had been a rental of a small, single location RV dealer. It had just shy of 35000 when we bought it. I am not sure why the dealer that had it as a rental decided to sell, but that is low mileage for a rental unit. The carfax was clean too.

It seems in general, the rental postings are all in the 100-140k mile range, is this pretty standard for when they retire rentals? Or do they vary at other times?

I think normally Cruise America keeps RVs in their fleet for 5 years or so,before selling, which seems to put most of them in the 100,000 mile and up range. I believe other companies like Road Bear, will sell their new RVs at any time.

I'm a bit of an odd guy out in that I bought my ex-rental from the former Camping World Rental fleet instead of Cruise AM or EMonte. CW dumped the rental business and and sold off the fleet at giveaway prices particularly toward the end of their inventory... they just wanted it DONE!! That said they did NOT dicker one bit, but they did like most others and added awning, ladder, $200 CW gift card and 3 years of GSam road ins. 26' w slide out, 2014 on a late '13 E450 chassis, 55K miles $49.9k plus tax and lic. This coming summer of '17 will be my third high season but here in CA I use it all the time. Zero problems, much fun... no rental regrets despite what soooo many predicted with a rental unit. Pic is on the lot before decal removal and Thor Freedom Elite branding added.

Hi, I bought a 2006 tioga wsl 31ft. Class c from El Monte rented place near dallas,tx. My wife and I really love it. So for I had to reseal three windows, replace kitchen faucet,replace toilet,replaced cabinet on overhead bunk because of water damage,fixed ground wires on lp tank and a lot of reseal on roof. By what I found out on my rv and the repairs that they did I wouldn't recommend them to do any repairs.
