HI Perick:
The answer to your question is yes and no. The VIN #, chassis # and the like are when the chassis is built, be it Ford or Chevy. THEN the coach is put on the chassis. When the coach is finished, that is the MODEL year. So if the chassis was built in 2007 and the coach was finished up in 2008, then yes, it is a 2008 MH, but the chassis was built in 2007 and must be registered as such.. Hope this helps. Same thing happened to me. I did inquire about it and did the research to verify. Like you, I thought, "You Sumbeaches!", but after research, all is well.

Thank you for that reply Allen. Reading out here I have seen mention about the possible date differences between the chassis and coach, but since this one is 04/07 for the chassis and 05/07 for the coach, that lead me to think that neither would have sat around for 6 months before being completed.

Honestly, biggest thing that is driving me nuts now is the fact the hitch is a 3500lb hitch and not the 5000lb hitch the 2008 models have. That's ticking me off the most, the fact we bought the 2008 over the 2007 because we wanted the hitch and to be a year newer.

After researching on the Fleetwood site and inputting the FIN number into a parts search, they do have it listed as an 08 as well.

Just doesn't sit well with me that you sell it as an 08, but it has 07 specs. Wish it would have been disclosed because then we could have factored that into our decision.

This is a common thing that comes up often because of the way RVs are produced,it may not make you feel any better about it but this
link will explain it better which seems to be an industry standard.

My 2006 is on a 2005 chassis but I knew of this going in when I bought it. My pink slip also identifies it as a 2006.I am sorry that someone here did not mention this practice,me included, when you were asking questions about your future purchase, it usually comes up.

So I guess the question is, can the 2007 chassis handle a 5K hitch? If so, it's not too big of an expense to upgrade.

Currently RV-less but not done yet.

The Title "model year of the motorhome vs chassis" depends on the state. In Oregon our 2007 Winnebago Model Aspect on a 2006 Ford Chassis is registered as a 2007 Winnebago Aspect.

The Oregon motor vehicle rules state that the title is based on the date of last manufacture...in this case Winnebago. The dealer incorrectly had it registered as a 2006 and I had to go to the Motor Vehicle office and get it corrected.

I see in my service history that the bumper was replaced with an 04 Jamboree bumper. I kind of wonder if the hitch didn't get swapped out at the same time.
In looking at the 2008 brochure, they have the 2007 ford chassis in all of the pictures. Since all of the specs are the same between the 2007 Tioga and the 2008, I'm going to just upgrade the reciever and resolve our issue.

Just confirmed with my salesman that it is an 08. I'm gonna guess the reciever was swapped when the bumper was.

Where did you guys get your awnings installed? What brand do you guys prefer?

I opted for the Dometic 8500, I like the manual ones over the powered ones, less to go wrong and it is more adjustable to what I want to accomplish when using it.It can be tilted end to end and can be converted to Patio Style if wanted, no ducking the arms and easy access to put up my Sun Blocker .

I have a very good Camping World near me and I had them install it,they did an excellent job.The cost was $866 installed.

Regarding the hitch -

If it's an '08, it could be equipped to the '08 spec regardless of the chassis / coach year. I think some of the manufacturers introduce their new stuff as running changes.

Also, the bumper change does not necessarily mean the hitch got changed too.

Perhaps a hitch shop can confirm what's installed before you swap it out.
