Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Posted By: deltabravo on 10/31/12 12:19pm

I will be moving it out of the heated storage garage today. Sadly, I am moving out of the storage place and will be keeping the truck and AF at home again... where it will be subjected to crappy weather for the 9 month rainy season in western WA.

It's home now. Took longer than expected to get it out of the garage because the truck batteries were too low to start the Duramax.

Stopped at a mechanic to have the breather line on my gas tank repaired as something chewed through it, discovered the holes when I went to fill the tank.

Made a couple new locking tabs for my range hood vent as the old ones had stopped working.

Currently parked in the lot outside the RV Hall of Fame (Free overnighting [emoticon] ).

Moved it out of the driveway and from under the RV port to the street for 2 days while my driveway gets crack filled and sealcoated... Moved it back in this morning (after driving it around for 15 minutes or so just for fun in the neighborhood! :-)

Going to clean it up a bit today and load it back on the truck. If the weather is decent, I am going to head out to... Somewhere next weekend.

Moved it into the new 34X44 shop I built to store it in and work in. Finished the sheet rock on the 14 foot ceilings today Need to hang the furnace, finish insulating and sheet rock the walls. Can't wait till I can get all the tools, benches and equipment out of the 2 car garage and into the shop.

While so many are winterizing (at least up in the north), we took our TC out to lunch with a bunch of TC enthusiasts who are continuing to camp through the winter. AND, we got some LEDs to test ... straight across swap with the old 1141 bulbs. Nice white light, and low amps too. Yay. Story and pics are here.

I had the propane tanks filled in anticipation of the first snow storm of the season up here in the So Cal mountains and to get ready for the holidays. I lit the water heater also then turned it down to just the pilot. It keeps the water really, really warm (almost hot) along with the surrounding water lines under the sink. I only use the water tank during the winter. I've always used my camper as a guest house for folks for Thanksgiving and Christmas.. as well as an "extra" kitchen.

Finally retired my original Trojan GRP 27's and installed two Walmart Maxx GRP 29's. I hope I get half of the 7 years that I got out of those Trojan batteries. Only time will tell.
