Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Just returned from two weeks camping at Oregon's coastal State Parks. They are so very nice and in April they are not crowded. Came home to find the Baseboard Heater I ordered (Dimplex Linear Proportional Convector Heater) had arrived. Sure wish it had arrived before we departed. Oh well..anxious so got right to installing it. It is a good looking 750 watt 120 volt AC heater with a built in Electronic Thermostat. I wired it into the Air Conditioner Breaker as both will never be used at the same time. Since so many state parks and other locations have Electric Hookups this should be really nice. Even our Honda EU2000 could run it if desired.
Credit goes to "skipro3" for the idea!!!

Painted the Happijac with Tremclad, in and out tube, hope it will last. I mixed the paint with Lacquer Thinner and the finish is pretty good. They look nicer now that the rust is all gone anyway.

Thanks for all the advise for Alaska trip. We've done the highway a few times but always on a schedule. Now that everyday is a Saturday (how do you say retired?) we'll take our time. Should be a whole different experience.

Waxed the camper and both trucks today. Forgot just how much surface area there is on a even a small SquireLite camper :-( Yes, everything will get dirty on the trip, but at least we'll start with a clean rig!

Also tried a tip we got from another RV newsgroup. The rubber trim around two windows on the camper was still flexible but shrunk some. Pulled the rubber trim out, boiled it in water with a little vegetable oil for 3 minutes. Stretched rubber trim as it cooled. Fit back in perfectly with no gaps. The person on the other newsgroup said this was an old auto body shop trick! We'll see if it stays or quickly shrinks back.

I was given a 50 watt solar panel and controller and I got them installed. Set up the wiring so I could easily add more panels later. 50 watts is probably not enough for keeping the batteries up when winter camping (due to the furnace all night) but more than enough for our style of camping in spring and fall. Also will hold the batteries up when the TC is not in use.

fixed my leaky bathroom faucets in my lance one piece bathroom by going through the onboard outside battery box, very simple and easy.

Took it to the Ford dealer to get the truck's computer fixed so it would stop threatening to limit the speed to 50 MPH from a non-existent diesel exhaust fluid fault.

I have a feeling those guys do not get trucks wearing campers too often. [emoticon]
