Well...maybe a change of plans. The drill crew finished the 1st well and got a change of plans, they are going to Laredo to a lease they have to punch hole in before the end of the year. Will be back here when done in Laredo. The fracking crew should be in next week. Nothing has been said about leaving us here or moving us out. We will see.
The company man just told me we would not be moving. They are keeping us right here.

You know that Gov. Perry just signed in a new law where you can have a weapon in your vehicle in a company parking lot if you have a concealed carry permit. I'm thinkin' that should trump any company policy. Oh well, I'm not gonna do the gate guard thing, so I'm not gonna worry about it. I still think searching your RV falls into an illegal search tho....heck, the Border Patrol doesn't even do that.
Before you mislead someone with this post, you need to go read the law you are quoting, I did. There are some very specific exemptions in the law, for the oil/gas industry. Anyone in our line of work, is NOT covered by the new law.

If your taking a job where in it is understood there are no firearms allowed at point of hire, which is what this sounds like, you dont have a leg to stand on. Put your energy instead into finding allowable alternatives , mace, tasers, bats ,photon torpedos, tiger pits with stakes......

WHOA...We have not seen any Turkeys yet to have for THANKSGIVING!!!

But, I bet my DW will find one! Deer meat might have to be the meal of the day.

Hope all have a nice day and give THANKS for ALL the wonderful things we can be THANKFUL for.

Happy Thanksgiving from gate guards at New Baden, Tx. We had a good rain last night and early this morning. One thing about this sand here it will not stick to your feet. So i don't have any mud. Have not seen any scorpions either. The first week we were back to work in Aug, one bite the yorkie we have. Guess what! The vet was closed and it cost us $ 175.50 for a shot and some allergy medicine.
The weather here feels like weather at home at Thanksgiving. We are going home for Christmas. Last year i missed both holidays. Had hand surgery last Dec 22nd, had to eat whatever. Guess it was better for me anyway. Enjoy your holiday food.

You are indeed correct. I had read a summary of the law that did not include the exclusion of oil leases.

I have no interest in being a gate guard. I had considered trying it, but there are areas of south TX I would not go without a firearm. Also, I would never consent to a search of my RV without probable cause and a warrant. So, I'll just stay retired.

For those who like it, it is great to have the positions available. Hope y'all all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, our GGS service person had a pit bull bite him. So with 2 staples and emergency room, Dr. fees cost him $1000.00
So guess it is better to be a Dog than a person!!!

I know what you mean by Vet costs...my brother took it upon himself to neuter and spade several of our farm cats! Well, back then it was $75 ea. and he did 15 of them!!! Fox and Eagles moved in and within about 4 years we did not have one cat left!

Use to raise Quarter Horses and vet bills were high. But what enjoyment does not cost us money. Need to take my diesel in for an oil change and they want $99 for that...plus something else they will find. Unit still under warranty so will pay the $$$

I am not saying that the cost was not high...just making some comparisons. Sounds like it saved the dog...so it was worth it.

We have so many things to be thankfull for.

I think you probably replaced us during our move from the Keathley gate on Rd 271. We moved to Rd 252 about 8 mi away. We are now 3 mi from Hwy 72, 14 mi west of Kenedy. We have been with this Conoco rig for a year now and have moved around in a 10 mi square area out here. Our next well will be a longer move. We are going west of 37 about 15 miles. Love our rig..we know everyone and the traffic is light..hardly ever have anyone after 10 at night til 5am or so.
,

I think you are right, it was the Keathley gate we were at. It sure was busy with moving equipment out. Will have to learn a method that works for us to keep track of everyone and everything without slowing down the traffic.

Last friday Jamie told us we might get an assignment next monday(Nov.21). We said if that was the case, we might venture down to the Chorpus Christi area to have a look around on Saturday. We have not been this far south in Texas before. Well, that same day, while we were eating in Three Rivers, he calls to see if we want to go out. Since we need the experience we said yes. We are currently off Hwy 624 around 34 miles southeast of Cotulla. It was approcximately 70+ miles to get here from Whitsett. The company is Murphy Oil. Don't know how long we will be here. They are currently doing the Fracking process. Have been receiving some very good food from the caters here. Haven't seen any salesmen come to the gate yet though. They supply the diesel and water and also provide an additional generator run light for night. Don't know what dirt road we are on but the gate is NMC 688 1-H. It is only about 3 miles off of Hwy 624, but due to the road surface it takes at least 10 minutes to get back to the highway
