We are in New Baden, TX. I think this is the Barnett Shale.
We will be here for another few weeks. Only have one well on site. We were first moved close to the rig and within 4 hrs i had black on my face and my socks looked black, instead of white. Then rig boss told us we had to move back to the last gate. I would love to get together with other guards sometime. We have spend most of our time around Gonzales, Tx. Guess they needed a guard here, so off we went. I'll bet it will be colder up here. We came back to work Aug 29th and i can tell you it was way to hot for about 5 weeks. I am thinking their yard is in Henderson, and not much on hookups. Please keep on posting that is the only way we can stay connected while working.

Well we finally fenageled a couple of days off. We worked it into a rig move. Funny how some things get your attention-the DW remarked that it had been a long time since we had been in a car together (-: It was good to get away and not have to worry about the $%^%@# bell going off. What's everyone do for Thanksgiving? And do we get paid on Wednesday??

Hello,
Where are you at for gate guarding? Just like to look up on a map all the areas everyone is at to get a general idea how large an area the gate guarding covers. My wife and I were out for about 4 days for our first taste of gate guarding. It was extremely busy as they were going in and out everyday to move the drilling rig. Conoco/Phillips was the company. They didn't provide guards for the fracking process, so we left after 4 days. Waiting at Whitsett for another, hopefully longer assignment. We are the only ones here right now. We are working for Gate Guard Services LP. Would like to know who everyone is working for and their experiences good and bad with the company.
Thanks

We are 15.3 miles from Cotulla, and 8.0 miles from Big Wells on Hwy 468. Many people can not read their speedometer!!! Lots of lost drivers.
Have been here since 9 November and figure it should be a long time gate. Hope so. They are doing a pipeline on the two well heads and then also need fracking. So we shall see how busy we can get. Plan on 9 more well for the Ranch.
Loma or Luna is the company with the best lighting. Timekeepers furnishes NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have ordered a booster for Internet as AT&T is poor but none other but Hughes NET! Will let you know how booster works out. Do have Verizon Cellular but drops some calls.
Had a Turanchela SP and roadrunner plus a big buck come by and all left alive except for the spider. DW does not want them in her hammock!!!!

We are on a hunting ranch 12 miles south of Cotulla. 11/2 miles east of 35 on La Banita Rd. Been here since Oct 8. We work for GGS and the company we are Gate attending for is Swift Energy. Very nice people. They water our dirt road whenever it needs, they keep the weeds cleaned off arouind the site, we have had two catered dionners, the
superintendant brought us cheeseburgers, Swift furnishes all our drinking water and picks up our trash every other day. We have been given a sack of oranges, Tin of cookies, a large container of seedless grapes, gum, coffee, and caffine free pop from the sales people coming in. Swift say we will be here till June....we will see about that.

Hi Texan, and all you lucky gate guards down south. We're up here in Arlington TX.sitting on a Carrizo gate with SLB doing the fracing. Got here 10/2 and will be here until 12/19 and then off to San Diego for Xmas with the kids this year. Plan is to be back Jan. 3 and then work until Sept. Going to change it around this year to be home in TN. this winter. Texan does Jamie have work for another gate guard down south? We are getting tired of big city life/traffic/people/etc. Worked up in the DFW area last year and being country folk would like a change. Let me know, I think Jamie still has our number,if not he can get it from the office. You guys be safe and have a good time, that's what it all about anyway.

Chuck,
Yesterday there was only one rig in the yard waiting, if that tells you anything. They have more gates than they have people at the present time. Give Jamie a call and see. If you don't have his new cell number, PM me and I'll give it to you.
I know what you mean by city life and traffic. We worked the DFW area one season and said never again, give us a dirt road and the nature type animals, not concrete and the man made animals....

I think you probably replaced us during our move from the Keathley gate on Rd 271. We moved to Rd 252 about 8 mi away. We are now 3 mi from Hwy 72, 14 mi west of Kenedy. We have been with this Conoco rig for a year now and have moved around in a 10 mi square area out here. Our next well will be a longer move. We are going west of 37 about 15 miles. Love our rig..we know everyone and the traffic is light..hardly ever have anyone after 10 at night til 5am or so.

We are near Gillett and there are at least six gates around us. We love our support people-have had negative experiences with communicating. Other then that we are happy.
