Had a visit yesterday from a tax man from the Texas omptroller's office. He wanted to know if we were sub-contractors or employees of Gate Guards. My wife told him she thought we be sub-contractors. He said if that's so you need a tax permit to work and you will be fined for not having a permit last year. I let Melissa know and she asked me not to tell them anything about Gate Guards. The man called back and said he had talked to someone in the Corpus office and was told they thought we were employees of Gate Guards but wanted to hear that from me. He said if I was a sub-contractor I would have to obtain a permit and pay the fine he had mailed. Prior to his telephone call I checked with a few other gate guards and they had not been contacted. I tried to get him to tell me why I was the only one he had visited but he wouldn't say. He3 said I was the first he contacted. I did check and he is from the Comptroller's office.

There is a gate opening for a couple that is experienced and licensed starting Monday, April 2nd. It is with a small company with reliable equipment looking for self reliant people that want to be paid well for the work they do. PM me if interested.
This opening has been filled-but there are other openings coming soon.

Sorry my time is valuable as well, so I interrupt them if they are on the phone. Not much on catering to rudeness.

I don't know much about rattlesnakes. I do know they are up and moving here in Karnes County. We have had quite a few sighted and killed around our pad. So; HEADS UP! folks. Be extra careful walking around outside.

BTW does anyone know if most of the local hospitals in South Texas carry anti-venom? I mean what do you do on these lease roads without an address for 911? Since time is everything, maybe we should find out where the closest anti-venom is. Hmmmm-I wonder who is up on all this???

I would know my GPS coordinates. Surely the Emergency services have a GPS......

Call the hospital and ask about anti venom, and keep your hands out of places where they hide. Be aware......

I have lived in rattlesnake country all my live and my career was spent outdoors. I was never surprised by a rattlesnake, all run-ins had some sort of warning, be it sight or sound.....

I had to call 911 one night about a vehicle that was setting outside our gate. When I was connected with the sheriff's office, I just gave them our location by the road numbers. A deputy showed up fairly quickly.

Every site and I do mean EVERY site has a physical address, which the company man has and is supposed to provide you. Ask the Co man and you will get the address. Every emergency responder in the county knows where that address is, for their own protection. We have had the local FD and ambulance service out here twice, checking the site for their own safety.
