At the yard where we sit when off a gate, has two service men. We will do something for both of them. One extra as he is the one that has always serviced us. Just don't want to leave anyone out for Christmas. Leaving Monday to go to KY for Christmas. Plan on being gone for about 10 days. Wishing all gate guards a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Us and another couple i talk with that worked for them to, never got any more money on 2 rigs or how many things were going on at the location. The big man let me know all of their sites were very busy. I told him i would not take another gate that was EOG. He told me he and Bert were good friends and he could make a call and have us out that day. We almost had to take one before coming here to this site, they only thing was the pad was not done. I had made up my mind if we did accept their gate, i was not going to be treated the way we were on the last gate. My home has wheels and they would be rolling out soon.
Guess by now you know i don't thing much of them, or the smart *** upper level management. Yes, we do have mud everywhere.
This is OLD Oilfield Mentality whereas I work DIRECTLY for the Company and you are NOTHING. Having witnessed so much of this behavoir in Oilfield having worked there for over 30 Years, its a wonder how anyone stands today for Plantation Mentality. Most folks would have told the "Big MAN" where to get off, and reported the fool to his HR DEPT and Supervisor for threatening behavoir which would have humbled "BIG MAN" who would have been counselled on his leadership skills.
I work offshore mainly and when I travel to land sites I like to get with the Gate Guards, in some places, It seems like a fun job where a person just keeps an eye on things, logs the comings and goings of the workers and visitors. Most crews value good workers and helpers and Gate Guards are no exception, most Company Men and Toolpushers value a good worker and treat him or her with dignity not to mention inviting them to the catered meal!!! Some rigs and locations have such good eats that weight loss is impossible and did I mention during the holiday season ain't no telling what a gate guard can shake down a salesman for, why I wouldn't even consider a guard worth their salt unlessen they got at least a ham out of some salesman, how you treat my gate guards and hands tells a lot about your character.
BTW-give me a heads up in the company man shack about the pesky salesmen, I will give you the world if you can shoo em away with "He is indisposed right now taking care of paperwork." If they got sandwiches (Called sammiches down South) get few, if they don't offer, then they don't get in, and sales call is over, but give me a heads up and I will listen to the pitch while the sammiches last while the crew is on break, better hurry up, these boys can clean out a pantry in no time flat!! LOL
On most crews you become family.

Very good narrative of the "normal" gate and its company people. There is always that 1% and down in this area, it seems EOG has hired them all. Luckily, we have never had a bad gate or company, and have seen it like your narrative most years. There appears to be a big attitude disparity between the EOG company men in north Texas and those in south Texas.
Yes, with rigs, we have always felt like family, but construction sites are a whole different breed of cat. No salesmen bearing gifts here and employee turnover, at a rate I have never seen anywhere else.

We have been treated so good right from our first gate with them over a year ago. We are always treated to their meals(Catfish and Shrimp this last week..YUM)and the salesmen all know us by now, too.(We got a another big sliced ham a couple of days ago and hats are coming in for the Hubby. Lots of treats this time of year. Of course, I am giving out my treats also to everyone!!

Hello! The only common denominator is that all issues are all over the map, right? Only heard one other report re LOMA and that was cited as a total disaster! I tried to zero in on their exact home base/website/contact person/phone number without success. Does anyone know how to contact someone responsible for LOMA assignments? Ditto for STREAMLINE FIELD SERVICES in El Campo, Texas except someone who identified himself on voicemail as Kyle Chandler at the given phone number did take my message; no reply yet though.

Who are the service people you are referring too? We have a person that brought us out to our assignment and has been here once in a months time to change oil in generator.
There is a guy with the fracking crew that puts diesel in our generator powered light as needed. That is all we know other than the workers that come in and out daily.

There are 2 types of setup and service, one like coolbikerman noted, where the oil company is responsible for everything and one like ours where the company takes care of everything. We have had both types, but mostly GGS provided service. Jimmy Lawrence, our service guy this year, comes by every 7-10 days and fills our tanks, services the generator every 14 days and brings our mail, when we have any. Last year, we had George Luna, in the Kenedy area and both he and Jimmy did an outstanding job of making sure everything was to our satisfaction.
