muddy mess here! Fracking started 2 days after the drill rig moved to another pad so we have both drilling and fracking going on at the same time. Needless to say it has been a little busy around here.

So I have a question about getting gates. Once one closes, does the company move you to a new one or do you have to wait in a CG till another needs you?

Thank you

Don't know what is best-we have been "adopted" by a rig and are following them around. This is our first year, so we didn't know wether to accept their offer or move on. I was told there are plenty of gates and GGS has a good placement rep. Anyway, we like the decision we made-we know most of the crew and vendors and the company man watches out for us. Looks like at least a 3-6 month gig for us! If you have a license you are not going to sit very long.

You are SO right...those Cattle Guards can STRIKE one anytime and they are such slippery Guards. Have had to watch out for them everytime I see one early in the morning. That is when they seem to be cold in spirit and ready to twist your ankle and make you say Uncle real quick. Guess that is why Most of the GATE Guards have a swinging GATE. That is a subject for another comment![emoticon]

We also were "adopted" by a rig right after we started gate-guarding. We have been with our rig for over a year now and have stayed within a 5-sq. mile area. It looks like we have a gate with this rig as long as we want to stay. One great thing about our company is that they always provide us a very large caliche pad to set our motorhome. I have seen some gates where the RV is sitting on dirt..not good if it rains! Also, their gates always have a large cattle guard. So far, we have never been required to open and close the gate.

Just trying to qualify a seeming trend on assignment policies of different gate guard services regarding continuous long term gigs versus short term. Does anyone know which drilling/oil companies tend to "adopt" you for their next site if you have already demonstrated to be outstanding in your service to them?

Haven't heard of any that won't, as long as you do the job and are liked by the company man and pusher. I don't know how things are on EOG rigs this year, but last year they had a regional company man that thought gate guards were the lowest scum on earth and they had troubles keeping a gate guard for any length of time.

You could also just ask your gate guard supervisor if you could stay with your rig when it moves. I'm sure the supervisor would take care of it.

last year at this time we were on a EOG gate. The man ( not gonna mention name) from the company was always complainning about something. He treated us like we were trailer trash. Us and another couple i talk with that worked for them to, never got any more money on 2 rigs or how many things were going on at the location. The big man let me know all of their sites were very busy. I told him i would not take another gate that was EOG. He told me he and Bert were good friends and he could make a call and have us out that day. We almost had to take one before coming here to this site, they only thing was the pad was not done. I had made up my mind if we did accept their gate, i was not going to be treated the way we were on the last gate. My home has wheels and they would be rolling out soon.
Guess by now you know i don't thing much of them, or the smart *** upper level management. Yes, we do have mud everywhere.

EOG stands for what Company? We are on a Chesapeake Lease and guess the drug tests and firearms issue are strict. Neither are a concern for us. Very nice pad and road is great into the site. Mud..well it is about an inch deep as they built a great road and pad. Gate is electric which is nice. Cattle Guard would be okay...I just hate the walking over them...
We start to frack on Monday...been busy with the prep work this week in all the rain and mud. Site is much deeper mud than here. I am hoping to stay on this gate for the rest of our stay. Blondie, have you been out here summer and winter...there are only two seasons right?

We usually go home in May and back in October. They plan to drill 9 more wells here after they frack the 3 they have drilled. So looks like one could stay a long time as long as everyone is happy with us. AND us them! Our home has wheels also and can move quickly...just hope it does not come to that. Thinking of getting Hughes Net as computer time is only early morning.

My cattle guard post was tongue in cheek to post on striking!!!
