Topic: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Posted By: 69 Avion on 08/23/12 09:07pm

I notice that there is a difference between the 1968 camper wiring diagram and the 1969 layout. I'm still trying to figure it out. I can easily get the hot going to the range fan and the ground to that point. The continuity tester shows a circuit to the body.
It should be as simple as hooking the wires with the lines together and the smooth wires together to complete the parallel circuit. Unfortunaley, that doesn't work. I've figured out which wires go to the switch in the back and I can get them working, but the second wire going to the center light shows that it is hot, instead of being a ground. I'll try to figure it out this weekend. It would be simple if I could see behind the walls and see what they did.

Does anyone have their rear switches, over the door, that are set up as "up" for "off" and "down" for "on"? That is the way that mine appear to be and if I want to change them, I will need to notch the curved plastic interior in order to allow it to turn 180 degrees.

That's my recollection the way my (former) 67 C-10 worked.

That is the way mine was. I swapped the switches so that the porch light switch is on the side of the porch light. Now, the switch on the camper's left side controls the center light.

For some reason light switches etc in Britain (I can't remember about the rest of Europe, but they might be the same) are configured as down = on and up = off - i.e. the opposite of the US / Canada. This always struck me as being the wrong way around from a failsafe point of view - if you knock a switch you are more likely to knock it down and therefore in Britain ON.

I have a 1968 C11 and my center light is a short tube flourescent is that what the factory used ? Is it 12v or 110 ? It and the outside porch light are the only two that I haven't gotten to work yet.

My center light is a 12v light, same as the porch light.
My center, factory light had 4 incadesent bulbs, one for low and 3 more for high. I still haven't figured out why my ground wire, for the center light, has power to it. Obviously, something is wrong.

I believe that the coach light in the center of the ceiling was a 12 V fluorescent. We have switched it out for a LED.

The one I took out was original in the 1969 Avion C-11 camper.

I'm sure that they changed them over the years, and maybe even within the same year.
I am replacing it with an LED, as soon as I figure out all the wiring issues.

Well, if I had had the oem light I would have kept it. I'm surprised. It looks terrific. What is the material in the lamp shade? I presume you will install leds in the existing mounting plate and re-use the shade?
