Topic: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Posted By: 67avion on 05/05/18 09:25am

That's astonishing, but its not surprising. It reflects the talent and doggedness of our Avionistas. I think we should take up Rasta on a gathering at his place in Florida. We could set up an outdoor screen and project the work. I'm sure our spouses would find other things to do....but it would be cool for the rest of us. January, Rasta???

Onward!

I knew this thread contained a wealth of information regarding our beloved TCs. Once the photobucket fiasco happened, I felt like so much was lost. Thankfully, I found a way to save the images while putting them in their rightful places.

So far in this journey, I've saved 539 pictures and my document is currently 451 pages long and approximately 86,910 words... and that's only to July 9th, 2012.

It's a great way to pass the time without spending money!
This is wonderful news . Not being very tech savvy , how/when will this document be available , or are you going to fix the original thread ?

I wonder if its possible to "offshore" the material to a website? Do you know?

Hi, a former C-11 owner here. I can't express how nice it is to see & read about things related to (restoring) the C-11's. They are such incredible campers and I miss my C-11 dearly. Sadly, financial reasons forced me to sell it, along with the C-30 Chevy (2.5 ton) I had under it. With that said, I am in need of a little information, if you please (I've searched & searched & can't find measurements anywhere). Can anyone here who currently has a C-11 camper please give me two measurements (I'm trying to scratch build a 1/24th scale styrene plastic model of my old C-11 & planning to mount it on a modified Chevy truck model made to be a lot like the C-30 I had under my old camper)? I need both measurements to be taken from the same location at the "lower-front wall OR window", under the cab-over section, where the front of a p/u truck's bed would be (which is just forward of where my battery, water pump, & H20-tank were sitting on the floor inside the "step/seat/cabinet" for the bed access). Measuring inside or outside is not that important, either location will be close enough. I need measurements from there to the very front of the over hang/over the cab upper-bed area portion. And from that the same location back to the very rear (to the outside preferably at each end if possible). Thank you very much in advance! And, Good Luck with yours!

That sounds great. I'd like to see that when you finish. I hope a C11 owner passes by soon.

I will try to take some measurements tonight.

Thank you so much Sir 79 Bruiser! No need to rush it tonight, any time will work for me. I'm terribly Sorry but I just found out the 2 measurements that I thought I had correct, are Wrong! It's the overall Width of the camper (outside to outside) & the length of the lower part of the camper that sits in the trucks bed, from the lower-front (closest to the front of the trucks bed) rearward, to just after the trucks tail-gate, right where the camper drops down a little bit lower than the area/portion that sits in the trucks bed. As far as measuring-accuracy goes, within an inch, give or take, is fine as I'll be "fudging numerous things" anyway. If you can please get these without risking yourself (or any helper), I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks again!

You got it! Please keep in mind, I'm currently working on another kit and it might be quite some time. On the good side, having correct measurements will allow me to at least get a head start on fabrication of the camper part of the build, which because of the numerous compound curves, will be very difficult.

I'm working on this between school and exploring the mountains on my motorcycle, so it's a little slow going. I should hopefully have everything put together within a month.

It would be quite an undertaking to get this thread back to how it originally was as the images would need to be hosted again and put back into place. My understanding is the original poster or a moderator would need to make those changes.

Once I finish the document, I'll see what I can do to make it easily accessible.
