65Avion, that's a great looking set-up and I'd say the truck is just right. You might consider leaving the outside as it is. Polishing bright and then maintaining the polish is quite a task, judging by the posts here over the years.

Polishing bright and then maintaining the polish is quite a task, judging by the posts here over the years. I've thought about leaving it as is, I know how much work it is to polish. At the very least, I need to deanodize and clean up many spots the previous owner missed. I snapped some pictures of the inside. ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see the previous owner started painting everything white. I'm going to finish painting, then reassemble. I need to track down a mattress, I'm thinking a full size memory foam cut down to fit. I'm going to replace the plugs and switch covers since he painted them and they do not look very good. Also going to drop in a fresh battery in this weekend and try out all the lights and plug the camper in to see if the 110v works. I found the wiring diagrams earlier in this thread. Thank you for posting those. Everything seems to be in good shape so hopefully it all goes smooth. Will have to build a counter top and put the sink back in. Also going to install a new water tank and add a pump. The water heater is missing, what have you C-10 guys been using for new water heaters to fit the old hole? The plumbing all looks decent but I may look into adding a grey water tank. As far as propane, will a 20lb gas grill tank fit in the original location? Mine is missing the tanks and the door is also missing so I'll need to fab up a new one. I've been looking at a Wave 3 heater because I dont think I would trust the original heater. Any feedback or tips is welcome. I've already picked up a ton of knowledge looking through this thread. 1965 Avion C-10 1977 Ford F-250 ![]() |

Outstanding looking rig! Looks like a lot of polishing has happened. It's a great look if it can be maintained. BTW I have OEM stove and Fridge if you want. They are free. Welcome onboard as an Fully credited Avionista. ![]() |

@silveravion Thanks for the Video. Have seen it before. I have to change the tanks. It is not allowed to transport or use the bottle while lying (?). We have to transport them upright. Therefor i have to find a new location for the bottles. Any ideas or suggestions? I allready read the first 180 pages. Too much information for my head. Thumbs up. Where did you buy your water tanks? I would like to order it, that it can be shipped in the bird. Saves lots oft money for shopping Costs. There will be no chance to find a new black water tank? Welcome onboard as an Fully credited Avionista. Thank you, that is very generous! I'm not sure if my fridge or stove work yet. I'm going to put power and gas to the camper this weekend. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. I'm going to finish polishing it and keep it maintained. One question I have, does anyone know what alloy aluminum Avion used? My gas tank door is missing and I need to fab up a new one. I want the new aluminum door to match the original as close as possible. |

65, it is well worthwhile to get in touch with the source of this all, Cayo Repair in Watervliet, Michigan. In particular Chuck Cayo (cncayo at comcast dot net). As you probably know they were the original builders of the Avion and have deep institutional knowledge. They may also have parts that would be helpful. Chuck is open to passing along a lot of knowledge either in person or on the phone. Cayo Repiar Service, 4835 N M 140, Watervliet, Mi., 269 463 5068. If you go back in this string, you'll see my Wave heater install, water heater installation, propane, gray water and water tank. If you can't find them PM me and I'll see if I can track them down. |

1968 C11 The LP(propane) tanks that originally came in the 68 C11 are not 'normal' tanks lying down. Rather they are horizontal tanks designed to be transported and used in that configuration. I have no idea about the laws regarding LP tanks in Europe but I think it is illegal or at least bad practice to lay down a normal LP tank here in the states. When I was redoing the Pompadour, I modified the original LP tank box to accommodate two 5 gallon LP cylinders in the upright position. Mostly finished 68 Avion C11 Sorry I cant seem to find pictures but if you skip to 4:25 in the video you'll see the tanks. Are 5 gallon(20lb.) LP cylinders common or even used at all in Germany? 1968 Avion C-11 1993 Dodge D250 LE Cummins |

When i order them, when the camper is allready here, they will cost me a fortune. What did you guys do with yiur bath and shower. Is there a material you can use to build a new waterproof "lowersection" (tub and walls) in the bath? |
