We repaired the wing wood and put steel plates to strengthen it before we fastened in the jack plates. That is one of my workmen, Jeff Jones, working on the plates. Next to them you can see the new tie downs:![]() ![]()

67, haven't we seen these pics before? Is this an old post from an early stage in your restoration? I'm missing the context... But I am charmed Chuck Cayo may be able to give you new skin for the backend! He's been very helpful for me. Dick |

I was thinking that maybe 66C10 would be interested since he is about to install his jack mounts. I think its important to have a top plate that spreads the cantilevered weight from the jacks, especially if there has been wood repair. We have a separate fixture for the actual stands that sets it out about 6 inches from the side of the coach. You can see it in place in the first photo...which is the completed installation. |

67, very thoughtful of you to post those pics for his benefit. What's the principle behind the steel box attached to the jack plate? Dick |

The steel box is a spreader for dualies...or for having a lot more room around the jack's support legs from your tires. By the way, the saga of the restoration of my 67 Avion is in Truck Camper Magazine: click |

Very nice write up ! Nice to see one of the Avions featured in TC Mag. Your camper came out beautiful, you should be proud of all the work you put into it. Dennis |

69cayo, Where did you find the window seals and gaskets when you rebuilt the windows , and did they fit properly ? Especially the seals that slide into the T slot . '68 Avion C-11 '02 GMC DRW D/A flatbed |

I really like the write up, but was a little disappointed that TC Mag didn't mention this thread... But I can imagine the reasons why. Keep up the good work Avionistas! I sourced mine out in a few different places, none fit the way they should and will be replaced before it hits the road. Try here.....http://www.interstatemetals.com/cat_windows2.htm, they have the oem seals. I also copied this at some point.....[Re: [Avion Camping and Restoration] Re: Window Seal Replacement 1979 9.1 by Tim Would you happen to have a part # for the "Y" shaped seal ? 009-289-19 Sorry, I sometimes used the term Y-shaped seal and sometimes Mullion Seal, but they are the same. Hehr calls it a mullion seal.] Gary, I have to agree with you that this thread should have been mentioned, it is the information source for Avion truck campers. I would think the aftermarket would be quite happy knowing full well that we're going to replace and update as we rebuild, so that should keep the advertisers happy. Just my opinion. Dennis |

Who would have known just a few years ago there was very little about Avion campers, and now there are hundreds of pages of builds, modifications, restorations etc all available on this "little" thread! Garry |
