Topic: Avion truck campers - Hundreds of photos

Posted By: 67avion on 03/27/14 05:46pm

Well, I thought I was OK with the pink stuff. But there were more things at stake. It turns out that I also had a bad valve on the hot water line. I thought that I had drained it and introduced the antifreeze throughout the system. Alas, I was deeply mistaken. We have just finished replacing lines and the Avion is sitting all bruised up with cabinets and tables removed. We lucked out when the freeze didn't get to the bathroom, though we had to replace a seal on the stool. Tomorrow we're putting the old girl back together. We've already begun preparing for our trip to the Texas Truck Camper rally next week.

One thing is for sure: there will be a classic manic obsessive truck camper next winter making sure - absolutely sure - that the coach is winterized to a fare - the - well.

Solar working great.

Im sorry to hear that man. But you got a laugh out of me with that last line lol. (Classic maniac). I didn't drain my hot water heater at all, I just added the pink stuff to the fresh tank and opened my hot water faucets until the hot water was pink also. That way the hot water heater was antifreezed as well. But it may have gotten colder where you live. Next year I will add 10 gallons to be sure. I was worried sick about it though because it was my first time to ever have to do it.

Howdy!
You know I enjoy surfing the web lookin
for camper ideas and I must say I just wish I
had a dime for everytime I come across a reference
to this thread. Good lord, Gary should run
for political office on this basis alone!

We're on the road to the Texas Truck camper rally. It's a beautiful night on the Wright Patman reservoir south of Texarkana. Sweet Jane is serving up chicken curry, saag paneer, and lentils. Very different from our bar b queuing neighbors. We have many visitors wherever we go who ask about the Avion. The other new thing is that we are pulling our Samurai Suzuki....that has caused some real tight fingers on the wheel moments.

We'll be in Texas Hill Country tomorrow after checking out truck food in Austin.

Folks, I don't trade in hyperbole but this is sensational. We'll report from the Rally.

67, you certainly pulled THAT rabbit out of the hat! Nice going, to get your repairs done, get on the road and get your attitude adjusted in such a timely manner! I wish you well on the road. I look forward to hearing about the camper rally.
Cheers!

We will not be too far behind you tomorrow. I expect to arrive mid-afternoon on Thursday. Looking forward to viewing that Avion.

Well, we're in the midst of TC heaven camped alongside the Guadalupe River near Kerrville, Texas. This is the Hill Country famous for the vast patches of wildflowers in the Spring. They're blooming now causing us to hit the brakes so that Jane could get photos.

Last night the Rally organizers came around to warn of predicted 60mph winds. It was like a military camp as all the TCs with awnings or flys were wrapped up and the campers battened down. We saw the storms pass just to the north of us, but we weren't hit. It went for almost 90 yesterday to around 60 and real breezy this morning.

I look around and see maybe 65 or so TCs, but just one Avion. But we were flooded with visitors yesterday including Jumbojet. This afternoon there is a tour of campers and ours is on the list. Lots of interest.

It sounds like you're having fun. Post some pictures if you get a chance.
