Desert I have plenty of height to roll under
the camper and sled. The stablelift was custom made
for the extra height of truck and sled. Everything
around here gets mounted on sleds. I guess
its just oilfield ways. I like the idea of having
protection of the camper floor, keeps the frount
wall back off the cab, and gives me a basement.
I still need to bolt it on permanantly. I could have
gotten away with 4in, but I had a hard time locating
tanks. 6in is easy and the fiberglass butt hangs 6in
too as so everything is flat. The I beams are light, maybe
50lbs. I left 24 in the rear so I can add a expanded
aluminum porch and lateral steps.
The stablelift is absolutely the way to go if
your unloading often. New jacks and extentions cost
about half the stablelift. I worried about the width
with the side mounted motors, but theyre above
the duallies, so it adds 4in to the width. I can pop
the avion off in minutes, and stay in it in the
up postion completely stable.

I sure wish I could get a better look at that sled device you built. Got anymore pictures of it? How is it fastened to the truck? and How do you get the truck under it when its on those pallets?

Desertboy, my sled is not attached to the
truck. It is attached to the Avion with elevator
bolts. I do not use pallets at all. The stablelift
holds the camper up when its off the truck, and
I can freely use it that way as well. What angle
of pics do you need precisely?

Dennis that is a second Avion your selling, yes?

Okay, I was just looking at the pictures somewhere around page 87 of this thread, It looked like it was attacked to the truck and you were backing up to the camper which was sitting on pallets. I appreciate it anyway man. I like the Idea of a sled though. Something durable and rugged and rigid enough to offer protection to the Avion. Now I know how to rig mine. A sled with a hook on the front that I can hook on to with a winch that I will mount up near the front of my flatbed. Once I get it started up on the bed I will hook on to it and slide it to the front with the winch.

We went to the Texas Truck Camper Rally this past week. I posted a sort of trip report on the string that Jumbojet started: Trip Report: 2014 Texas TC Rally. I have signed up for the Mid Atlantic Rally next month. Hope to see some of you guys there. I am sad to see that Dennis is selling his Cayo. He has been a great presence on this string and I hope for the best.

We had dozens of people trooping through the Avion. They loved it and we loved showing it.

Here is a photo of our campsite in Texas just before we were warned about 60MPH winds heading our way.

Hi all! My family and I recently bought a 1969 C11. So excited!! But I'm gonna need help and Garry from Alaska suggested this forum to me.

We've lovingly named our new camper "The Steamgoat" or just "The Goat" for short since we bought her in Steamboat, CO. She's in pretty darn good structural condition. Just a few tweaks here and there. Propane system is all good. Furnace, stove work. I'm having a buddy rewire a few of the interior lights and the tail lights for my truck (2002 Duramax). The refrigerator isn't working. It's the original Domestic. I got some help and will be working on that. I'm so excited to get going on my new project. Best of all NO LEAKS! She just survived a Steamboat winter with hundreds of inches of snow without a drop of moisture getting in.

My first thing will be the bathroom. It's all there. In good, original condition. It was painted pink!! UGH!! At least part of it was. The stool and lower half. And the only crack in the entire interior is in the bathroom above the window. It luckily doesn't leak. Floor is solid and shows no signs of rot at least from below. I haven't removed the shower pan, etc.

SO...how to repair the crack. Epoxy? Bondo? Also, I'm considering going over the entire bathroom, floor the ceiling in epoxy paint to give it a fresh facelift and get rid of the awful pink paint, but on the other hand I hate to ruin the original-ness of it. Will the epoxy stick to the vinyl? Thoughts? Advice?

I'm going to go back through the posts and pics. Thanks for letting me join!

Deb

P.S. How do I add photos?

Beautiful Camper Buddy. I just came in from working on mine I need to take some pics I guess. I am working on getting the bed of the truck ready right now. I sold the Air Compressor off the back, The Sullair weighed in at 10,000 pounds and was 12 feet long by 6 feet tall and 7 feet wide. So I have a huge area the bed with no Diamond plate now. I already torched off all the old brackets and hardware that had to do with gunite, and spent about 6 hours today with a grinder cleaning up and getting it ready for paint.

Welcome Wyo. Photobucket is the app
you need to add pictures. Get it, upload
your pics to it. Then it will give you a URL
to post in a message to this forum. We love
pictures here!
West epoxy is the way to go. Original spriginal
make that camper look the way you want it! As far
as paint, I stripped mine all off. I prefer the all
aluminum look.
