Not much to see inside. Campers been sitting since 93 and leaking everyone of those twenty years. I really shouldn't have bought it as its a basket case, but for 400 I couldn't say no. The kitchen counter has swollen to almost three time original. Bit scary to load it as the 3 tripod jacks were not connected in any way. One window pane was shot out. Two bullets, one through the window then through the bathroom wall and out the bathroom window the other through the range vent and also out the bathroom window. You can see the holes in the first pic.

Can you tell where it was leaking from? I know mine leaked from the broken rear plastic vent lid. The seams on mine seemed to be fine.

We're camping at Seminole Canyon in Texas tonight. We were just about the only campers in Big Bend as we all experienced a powerful winter storm. We're talking a rocking Avion with howling winds and sleet like bbs. The co detector went off every minute as we tried to keep warm with our cat heater. Garry, it's nothing like you face, but believe me it's a workout for old 67.

I certainly am developing a lot of opinions on this trip. The Avion and truck are amazing on the freeway and far west Texas roads where 75 mph is just idling along. The. I've been wondering what possessed me to keep the outside completely OEM and make so many upgrades on the inside? Why didn't I upgrade all of the exterior lights? In these weather conditions the OEM lights are absolutely inadequate.

I'll write more after we return. Tomorrow it's to Aransas where the Trumpeter Swans are sheltering from the same storm that enveloped us. Then to Thanksgiving with family in New Orleans.

All in all the Avion is performing very well.

Be safe on your trip and keep us informed on how you are doing. I'm glad the camper is working out for you. If they can survive Alaska, they can certainly survive the continental US.

Have any of you replaced the original shower base with something better ? My 68 C11's shower base is a joke to put it mildly, very flimsy very thin piece of plastic nearest I can tell. The rest of the bathroom floor structure is made of much heavier material and much stronger. And to top it off the shower base has at least three cracks that I can see. But it is whole so could be used as a template to make a replacement. I'm thinking have a local shop weld up either an aluminum or stainless steel base. Anyone done this ? You have to walk on this every time you use the bathroom so it seems like it should be more rugged that it was from the factory. It looks like it is just a rectangle with a slight jog on the left rear as you face it. Or is there any chance someone has found a modern shower base that fits ? I doubt the wife or I will use it as a shower every day but we sure will use the bathroom so a solid floor is a must. I suppose I could restore the original pan with thin wood bonded on the bottom and then fiberglass but not sure I'd get the final results I'm looking for. Thoughts ?

I have not replaced the shower /bath pan but will do so when I get to that point in my restoration. Clearly reinstalling the original plastic arrangement is not quite the thing as I envision it.
I am also musing on lining the entire bath in stainless. Hanging a ss sink in place of the molded one. The curved inner liner of the upper corners of both the front and back of my 69 is not metal but a plastic of some sort. Perhaps a sheet metal shop could fabricate ss strips that would conform to the compound curves... I'll be interested in your solution. Ck out the Timeless Trailers website. They have a couple of nice bath remodels.

Happy Thansgiving to all you Avionistas! We finally got out of the winter deep freeze in the Texas mountains. We traveled along the Gulf Coast on our way to New Orleans. I found myself foraging along the country roads of south Texas and Louisiana. I couldn't help myself as we stopped over and over for fresh picked pecans, fresh flounder and humongous shrimp, Opelousas sweet potatoes, and even kumquats for our family Thanksgiving. It's such a pleasure to poke around in the truck camper. We have it parked in a driveway in NOLA where we will bed down tonight.

When I pulled mine out it was thin fiberglass with a 1" x 1" or 3/4" x 3/4" rectangular wood frame under it, filled with the spray foam insulation. That is what spaced it up off the wood floor. I had my fiberglass guy fix a couple of cracks and I had him add a couple layers of fiberglass underneath. It is now very strong and really not that much heavier than it was. I had this guy paint all the bathroom fiberglass the same color.

Picture was taken when I was doing a 24 hour water test of the gray water system.

69 Avion so I understand this the bottom of your shower pan has been built up with glass but the sides remained the OEM thickness is that correct ? I'm not ruling out fixing what I have but I'm also planning on adding a grey water tank. Adding that tank " may " change the drain outlet location of the shower pan. It can't move that much but any change in the drain hole would negate using the original. Thanks for the feedback.

You are correct on the side thickness. It doesn't need to be thicker, on the sides, to contain water. Mine had a slight crack in the side corner so I cut it more to make it fit better, made a wood brace to hold it where I wanted it and had my fiberglass guy glass it in that location.
By the way, changing the shower pan drain location isn't necessary to put a gray water tank in. In fact, I can't think of a better location than where it is from the factory to be able to put a trap in it and connect it to a gray water tank.

Thanks for the tip on the drain outlet.
