I have mine on a 3/4 ton Dodge 12 valve, Far as I know its straight stock, It hardly squats it at all. I have good E rated tires and that's it. On the way home from Oklahoma City I could barely feel it back there. It rode well, Didn't seem to change my mileage much either. I may add a set of air bags or something, I think that's all I may need, Just to take some of the pressure off my leaf springs, But they are not hurting I don't believe, They still have a lot of curve in them. My grand father always made his own overload springs, They set in between the frame and axel. He would use a bumper jack and raise just the bed a little which created enough room to get them in there and then let it down and they never came out and worked great. They were heavy coiled springs with a piece of channel on one end to fit around the frame, and a piece of pipe the proper size on the other end of the spring that had been split and it gripped the axel, He used them all my life. I like the air bags myself, Got to liking them when driving a Semi. Ill just get a set I can air up manually.

Howdy! Desert I have plenty of height to roll under the camper and sled. The stablelift was custom made for the extra height of truck and sled. Everything around here gets mounted on sleds. I guess its just oilfield ways. I like the idea of having protection of the camper floor, keeps the frount wall back off the cab, and gives me a basement. I still need to bolt it on permanantly. I could have gotten away with 4in, but I had a hard time locating tanks. 6in is easy and the fiberglass butt hangs 6in too as so everything is flat. The I beams are light, maybe 50lbs. I left 24 in the rear so I can add a expanded aluminum porch and lateral steps. The stablelift is absolutely the way to go if your unloading often. New jacks and extentions cost about half the stablelift. I worried about the width with the side mounted motors, but theyre above the duallies, so it adds 4in to the width. I can pop the avion off in minutes, and stay in it in the up postion completely stable. |

@CajunAvion , Im trying to envision how that works in back of your truck, Is that the sled or is it just 2 pieces of aluminum Ibeam that work as a guide while backing up? And will these Bolt down. Ive never seen one of the other things that you have your camper on in the Barn (The mechanical looking thing I mean) I totally understand the wooden table in the other picture, That's handy! Ill go do some more research on this Stable lift thing.

Here is a old Diagram I found in my Avion, I don't fully understand it yet but I thought some of you guys might be able to help me figure it out. At the Bottom it says Avion Coach Corporation. I don't know if it came with the Camper or if someone had it printed off.

That certainly looks correct for Avion. It is one of the few things that really irritate me about Avion. Their color code isn't standard at all. I was going to change mine but I never got around to it.

So now I need to go outside and figure out which wire goes where on my Dodge which has a the round plug. This should be fun lol, The guy I bought it from only had one taillight going when I picked it up, By the time he was finished monkeying around my turn signals on my dodge had stopped working, I think he blew a fuse some where.

We have all of the wiring diagrams and brochures if you decide you need them. They are also up on this string at various points as people fought it out with wiring.

My dodge has the 7 pin Round plug, I had a few round males to plug in it but none had the 7th prong that connects with the center contact coming from my truck, I have everything working but the Backup lights. Man that's frustrating when you never done it before Ill tell you right quick, Especially by yourself, I bet I crawled from under that truck 50 times today. Then I came in and pulled up a page at Trailer and it says that middle wire coming from my truck is the Backup lol, Well it was good practice for a newbie anyway. The old paper I found has hand writing where the PO Identifies the wires coming from the camper. Its where I connect them to the truck where its confusing to me. Ill hunt through this thread some more, And yes 67Avion I need all the help I can get, Even a page number for the thread would help.

The main thing confusing me is I have everything working except backup lights, BUT! when I hit my turn signal it blinks very quick with camper plugged in, They blink on truck and camper but its very quick blinking as it sounds when a bulb is out. But its not out, all turn signals work on truck and camper, Brake lights work, Every running light on the TC works when lights are on. I can unplug camper and my truck blinkers return to normal, You would think If I had a wire in wrong place then everything would not work like it does. Am I thinking right?

What size fuse should I need for my backup lights on the avion? Its blowing fuses when I connect backup lights. That's usually means something is drawing more juice than the fuse can handle right? My guess is its these Old backup lights on back of avion camper, No doubt they were made long before these new fuses were invented. Im searching the thread but if anyone reads this and knows the answer please post it.
