With over 4" of rainfall, I'm thinking we're gonna be growing webbing between our toes. Quack! This morning's rain came down at a rate of 2.5" per hour. We have an infinity edge swimming pool again... At least the sky is clear for now - until the next storm line arrives this afternoon.
While it rained, Spotacus laid by the sliding door with his head outside and his body safely inside. No going outside in the wet, but he still got some fresh air. The down side to all this rain is he can't go outside to potty. So he peed in the bathroom sink, which is ok, easy to clean. But who knows what he'll do when he has to poop -- we made sure the Litter Maid is clean, but he's just weird when it comes to using that thing.
Alex did something very odd last night. He strolled into the shower and spent about ten minutes walking around in it, appearing to try to pee, sitting there and thinking, then doing it all over again. Made me very nervous that his kidneys may be starting to fail - the primary cause of elderly feline deaths. But a few minutes later, the Litter Maid did its thing, so I guess it was just old kitty doing wierd stuff. He's just fine this morning, already calling for lunch.
So I'm off to feed the cats their lunch. Later, y'all.

I hope Alex and Spotacus are all right after all. Elderly Alphas do get a little eccentric ![awink [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/awink.gif)

Magnus, Alex is not even close to being an Alpha. He's a sweet, human loving kitty, who, in his younger days, was walking death to pretty much everything smaller than him that he thought was edible. Now he eats, sleeps, loves on humans, sleeps, sits in the shower....
It's clear and sunny now - at least until this afternoon's rain band shows up.

But he's alpha to lizards, bugs and birds
Re the shower: maybe he's thinking ahead. He figures if it rains so much that floods come, he'll be safe in the shower because it has a drain

Cloudy today, but we've had three days of no rain. Really nice weather, with a cooling breeze to keep most of the bugs away.
WLToo is busy painting the stucco repairs. I promised him Caprese salad for supper. Guess I'd better get to it.
Later, y'all.

Ordure! Scheisse! Caca! Govno! Merde! Ifrinn! (Yes, I can curse in many tongues...)
Alaska trip is off. Again. Seems both Tall Friend and I have more visits with cardiologists in our immediate futures. His a-fib is back with a vengeance, and mine is not quite under medication control, so needs adjustment and observation. He's off to the doc today to find out what has to be done - we just know it has to be done toot sweet.
On the up side, we can put out the hummingbird feeders and watch the little things enjoy the summer. We have barn swallow babies, so the conversations are slowly increasing in volume.
WLToo played a YouTube recording of roadrunner sounds. Wowser! All those many different birds I thought we were hearing are actually just roadrunners. I know we have at least two pair in our meadow, and who knows how many outside the fence. Judging from the sounds they can make, we have a lot around us. Probably explains why we've seen only three snakes in the six years we've lived here.
Spotacus treed a female roadrunner a couple days ago. She sat up there and blew raspberries at him (only the females make that sound). Short Friend got a closeup view. Said the bird messed with Spotacus until he finally chased her, and naturally couldn't catch her. Spotacus did not do the Wile E. Coyote thing, though; he just gave up, came back to the porch, and resumed his nap on the glider.
Alex threw up on me at o'dark early yesterday morning. I cleaned up as much as I could, then left the rest until WLToo woke up and I could wash the bedclothes. No point in disturbing him. I retired to the other bedroom and slept just fine, despite the lightning show illuminating the bedroom so brightly. Lots of lightning, no thunder, only a small shower - we got off light, compared to the nastiness that hit north Texas.
The English as a Second Language class came out of the library boardroom last night looking rather spooked. One said there was an animal on the roof. Once we sorted out the language issue, I went into the boardroom and saw an 8" long giant red-headed centipede on the ceiling. A librarian used a broom to get it down, plunked it into a glass jar, and handed it off to one of the master gardeners who maintain the library grounds. She'll freeze it and give it to one of the local naturalists, who'll use it in his demonstrations. The ESL class decided to dismiss early...
Texas Giant Redheaded Centipede
Tall Friend was driving home yesterday and noticed that our doe herd actually stops at the side of the road, looks both ways, and then crosses. He'd never, ever seen deer do that. I told him it's not uncommon around here, but especially in town, where the herds live in people's yards in residential streets. The first thing the fawns are taught, once they start moving around with Mom, is to look both ways before crossing the street. They do a better job than most human children...
Haven't heard from the dealer on Steinholz' repairs, but there's no hurry now. We're not near the "guaranteed by" date, anyway. When we do get him back, I'm planning a few trips to various state and national parks around Texas. Good way to stay near the medicos and still get some camping done, maybe get all the quirks dealt with before we head off to Alaska next year (fingers crossed, knock on wood).
Leoghaire is looking in the window. Guess I'll go feed her a little corn. Later, y'all.

Wasn't that centipede in the "Star Trek: Search for Spock" bar scene?
Spotacus at least TRIED to catch her. Trying counts. ![awink [emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/awink.gif)
I'm sorry about the Alaska trip but I've found through the years that delays sometimes save us. It might be that you and TF need more healing time.
I have to say that I've discovered a lot of great camping at parks in my own "backyard" so to speak. Enjoy!

We've always wanted to see the Marfa lights, so that trip is high on my list for this year. Add some good ghost stories, since we don't know any UFO stories, and we could creep ourselves out pretty thoroughly. Heh.
I really need to learn how to make lasagna for less than a crowd. We're going to be eating lasagna for the next few days, even with freezing a good bit of it. No, before you ask, neither cat was impressed. Not interested in lasagna.
Meanwhile, WLToo has found a surefire way of getting Spotacus' attention. All he has to do is start his little helicopter going, and Spotacus appears out of nowhere. He feels the need to kill that helo.

Of course, after killing the dreaded helo, he was totally exhausted.
