I'm with Spotacus. If I was his size and there's a bunch of vultures outside I'd stay inside too. I hope you feel better soon.

Magnus, the vultures won't bother Spotacus while he's alive and kicking. He likes to watch them soar and gather on the shed.
Got up before sunrise, with a nose full of cement. While I waited for my sinuses to clear, Leoghaire came up to the porch. Due to heat and no rain, there's not much for her to eat, so I took a bag of carrots out and tossed them to her.
At one point, she looked down the hill toward the feeder. A beautiful fox was standing there, watching us. It sat down and kept watching while I tossed carrots to Leoghaire. Finally, it strolled leisurely up the hill and just short of the porch. I tossed a carrot over to it, it calmly strolled over and sniffed it, looked at me like "What is this junk?" and strolled past me and Leoghaire to the other side of the house and through the fence. Either it's the most laid back fox ever or someone's been feeding it. I believe it's the one that's been hanging out on our porch at night.
While obviously quite healthy, it's not near as large as Spotacus. He's seen the fox more than once and is totally not afraid, so they must have come to some non-aggression pact.
Meanwhile, Leoghaire isn't obviously hungry, in fact seems a bit fat, so others in the area are probably also feeding the herd. They do come to us for water. We're on water restrictions, but we'll keep watering the herd.
WLToo made pancakes; time to eat. Later, y'all.

He likes them far better than I do. Those birds have a bad case of UGLY. They're big and they're not the brightest bird either because I've seen quite a few hit by a car instead of getting out of the way. To me they're the feathered equivalent of a warthog. I take that back. Warthogs are even more attractive than a vulture.

Had a hot couple of days, helping Nephew 1 load a POD. He's off to Fort Rucker for Warrant Officer Course, followed by pilot training. It's his first time doing a household move, and he had no idea what to do. Naturally, he listened to his buddies, who knew even less, and the result was his veterans aunt and uncle had to bail him out. He only got a 7' POD, so it got the high priority stuff, as opposed to what all his mama wanted gone from her house. He'll be in barracks for WOC, then has quarters for pilot training. We told him to get another POD in mid-Sep, and we'll load it with the furniture and other stuff he didn't take this time, and it will go directly from here to his quarters.
It's so hot that we haven't seen much in the way of wildlife. Everyone's in the shade. Spotacus hasn't budged from our bed since we got home. I wonder if he'll go outside tonight at all.
Time to haul the garbage can to the street. Later, y'all.

Life is a learning curve, especially for young men who've never moved. We had a break from temps for about a week and now they're climbing again. I really don't like August.

How many ways can one say it's hot? Whew boy. I thank our lucky installers that we have such good insulation to keep the house nice and cool.
On the up side, we're heading into September, when the highs will only be in the low 90s, and lows in the upper 60s/low 70s. Sure do wish it would rain, though.
Spotacus has built a really stinky Mount Poopmore near Obi-Wander. When it cools down some, we'll shovel it up. He's also become so attention demanding that I have bruises from his combat head bumping. Sigh.
He's been getting a fair amount of exercise lately, chasing geckos. Rarely catches one, thankfully. We prefer they stay alive, eating bugs.
Time to go work at the library. Later, y'all.

Gasp! Now we've added humidity to the heat, so even though we're not going into the high 90s/low 100s now, it feels worse than then.
We hauled a bunch of books from the local thrift store to the library's big book sale. Thrift store needed the room, and the library needed the money, so they agreed to move books into the sale, which every year pretty much cleans out both library and thrift store. Very sweaty work in this humidity. Came home and planted myself under the ceiling fan.
Spotacus hasn't budged off the bed, except for a couple small snacks.
In a bit, it will be swimming time. Just waiting on the shade to cover the pool.
Later, y'all.

It rained!!! Over a couple days, we got nearly 3" of rain. Between that and WLToo having installed a roof washer that drains the overflow into the pool, we again have an infinity edge pool...
Other areas got 7" or more, which really helped with the drought conditions. Naturally, 24 hours after the rain stopped, the native vegetation turned green again. WLToo will mow in a couple days, to get the dried stuff out of the way for the new growth.
We finally re-filled the deer feeder, and the does are joining us twice a day again. Haven't seen the fox in a while, but I'm sure it's around.
WLToo is about to order some dirt for delivery, so he can revamp the vegetable garden. Again. Another 10 or 12 years and we just might have figured out how to productively grow our own vegetables in this climate.
Well, the gastritis is telling me I'm overdue for dinner. Later, y'all.
