Calvin, the kitty lover is going on a road trip? Get one of those long range squirt guns and fill it with vinegar and water. It worked for us.

Yes, he's a neighbor's cat, and no, he's not fixed.

Gotta love those irresponsible neighbors who want to inflict their tomcats on the neighborhood. Little wonder that Spot reacts badly to him. I suppose you'd feel bad about disappearing him for a week or so for a little surgical procedure...

Actually, I would not feel bad about a little surgical procedure, except I can't really afford it, and he's never let us anywhere near him, so catching him would be a serious effort.

Google around for "feral cat resources" or "feral cat TNR" in your area. You should be able to borrow a trap and usually for a dollar's worth of tuna or sardines, or maybe some leftover turkey or chicken, voila, you have a cat in custody. If you can do that and get a low cost neuter on him, that should improve his life and yours, plus Spot and Bobbi's lives, too. And his idiot humans, if they know it or not.

I don't know how many of you watched Trek TNG, but the name of your cat reminds me of a few episodes that showed CDR Data with his cat "Spot".
CDR Data (do a "find on page" for "spot")[emoticon]

True, but Data was being "logical" in naming his cat. We were being literal - he has a big white spot on his spine, in the middle of the black/white mottled fur.

Spot definitely is letting me know which person he prefers.

WLToo had to go help his mom; she had a car wreak yesterday, the second within a year. Not serious, but it's time for "the talk," meaning she needs to sell her place, move in with us, and stop driving. It will be painful, emotional, and inconvenient, but unless she decides to move into a retirement village with shuttle bus service, we don't see any other options now.

Meanwhile, Spot keeps wandering around, looking for WLToo, so we're playing kitty on the wrong side of the door. He did walk with me down to the gate and back yesterday, along with Alex, then Bobbi showed up the last half of the trip back. Walking with three cats is an exercise in not getting tripped.

Bobbi and Alex slept with me, although she did wake up wheezing at one point. At the first sound, I reacted as though she were about to upchuck, and pushed her off the bed. Then I woke up and realized she was doing that wheezy cough cats sometimes do, so I held her until she was done, and put her back on the bed. She forgave me by sleeping on my hip - not beside me, ON me. Hot, hot, hot... She's fine today.

Beautiful day, although quite breezy, and the cats are calling for me to come outside and play. So I will...

Spot has a new game. As we walked back from the mailbox, he suddenly jumped up, bopped me in the backside, then dashed around me and grabbed my foot, then ran ahead of me. I made doggie panting noises, he jumped and whirled around, saw it was me, and started the game again.

This went on all the way back to the house. Then he saw Bobbi and dashed off to play with her.

Spot is so funny.
