Snow in Texas: an apocalyptic event for some who panic. Glad you made it home safely!

Warmed back up to normal, 60s-70s highs, lows in the upper 30s/40s.

Spotacus and I got up at 0600. I dropped the blanket off my chair and onto WLToo's. Spotacus immediately moved in. Guess it's not my chair he prefers, but that binkie.

Short Friend and I got the Christmas tree decorated. WLToo has the lights up along the fence and the wreath on the gate. Still has some outdoor lights to go, and I'm trying to figure out where to put the indoor decorations, now that we've less furniture and fewer horizontal surfaces on which to set them. Oh, yeah, the few presents we're bothering with still need to be wrapped. Otherwise, we're pretty well set for the crowds coming in, starting next week and running through New Year's.

Down side: we put the cover on the pool yesterday. Yep, winter's coming, to quote the Starks... Sure will be glad when WLToo figures out how to hook up solar heating for it.

Time to do some more house cleaning and decorating. Later, y'all.

At least we're not expecting zombies.[emoticon]

We can handle zombies, Gary...

WLToo ordered Bilstein shocks for L'Andante a couple weeks ago. If/when they ever come in, we'll have a much more stable ride than ever before. Quite looking forward to that. Meanwhile, after the Christmas/New Years crowds have gone home, we'll clean up Steinholz and get it ready to sell. We're just not trailer types -- even Spotacus doesn't like the trailer much, and he absolutely loves L'Andante.

Outdoor decorations are almost up, just a few more lights to string along the porches. Packages are almost wrapped, five or six to go, and for the first time in decades, we ran out of gift wrap. Good thing a dollar store is only 3 miles away.

Got right nippy last night. WLToo turned the heater on. I put on shoes instead of sandals. Spotacus moved into WLToo's chair, where the binkie is. He's decided crispy plants are not fun to stand on, so he's reduced to using the Litter Robot. A few more days of cold mornings, and he's likely to be an inside cat the rest of the winter.

Roomba noise is driving me out of the room. Later, y'all.

It sounds like you're getting everything "wrapped up". [emoticon]

Cloudy today. Might actually rain. Sure could use that moisture.

The doe herd is no longer hanging about in our meadow. Must not be anything to eat there. A really nice looking buck is still here; hope he survives to sire fawns. I do miss the herd, though. Don't know if the feeder's big enough to draw them back, and I'm not sure we really want to spend that kind of money on deer feed. Will really depend on if WLToo wants to make the effort.

Spotacus has decided he simply must start bedtime with his head smashed up under my chin and his front paws on my pillow. That means his claws are next to my cheek. Then he gets pushy, and one of the humans winds up teetering on the edge. You'd think a king-size bed would be enough, but apparently not. And yes, he's even worse in L'Andante's short queen. The joys of a big house cat...

Short Friend wants to go shopping today, for those last few gifts (for WLToo and Tall Friend), so I'd best be getting ready. Later, y'all.

Sir Spotacus must be expanding his boundaries because of all those 4 legged beasties interfering with his territorial rights this Fall. I wouldn't worry unless he hires a wench to bring him his favorite dishes and toys[emoticon]

Blech. Came down with something. Can't lay down, 'cause bile bubbles up until the Gaviscon takes effect. Groggy, exhausted from the slightest effort, sinus headache. And yet I don't feel "sick." Weird. Short Friend said same thing happened to her in Maine, so it is a thing. Whatever it is, sucks.

Spotacus took me for a walk at 0600, and I never did figure out why he wanted me to follow him around the house. I got dressed and sat in my recliner, and he promptly joined me. Dozed until almost 1000 and I"m still groggy. At some point, he left my lap and moved onto a stool.

The problem is we're hosting a Christmas party for our writers' group on Tuesday, and there's still some cleaning to be done. Dust two shelves, sit a while, dust two shelves, sit a while -- yeah, that's gonna finish things up nicely. Not.

I never get sick. This "don't feel right but don't feel sick" business just stinks.

Ah, well. WLToo heated up the spaetzle soup (bone broth with German noodles). Maybe that will help.

Later, y'all.

Hope you fell better. Spotacus wanted you for backup while he checked for monsters under the furniture [emoticon]
