WLToo phoned me from the custom coach folks. I chatted with the guy doing L'Andante's evaluation, and unless their new estimates come back insanely high, I think we'll go ahead with the remodel.
He's coming up here in April, so I can go home for a medical appointment. Short Friend volunteered to mind Spotacus; that way, he won't be all upset at having to come back up here.
The entire herd of Angus was grazing along Mom's back fence the other day, so we had more critters to watch besides the local cats and the birds. Looks like her buffalo grass will be greening up in a day or two, and she's outside hoeing weeds out of a flower bed now. She's getting back into her normal routine, thankfully.
I saw on the Old Fella thread that Izzy the cat isn't doing well. It hit very close to home because of Alex' death in January. Losing a pet one has had for many, many years makes a hole that takes a very long time to heal. It's especially hard when there are no pets in the immediate vicinity to help. Spotacus is too far away to cuddle. Sigh.
Time to go back out and pick up more pecans. Later, y'all.

Here's hoping for safe travels and for a quick return to home and routine for you and Lord Spotacus.

New wildlife to watch this morning. A buff hen and a black and white banty rooster strolled through Mom's front yard. Absolutely beautiful birds, very well taken care of, possibly show quality. Naturally, they departed in haste when I opened the door to take their pictures--I think it's the Murphy's Law for chicken photographs...
I hope whoever keeps chickens here gets them home safely. Although Mom hasn't seen any coyotes right around the houses in about a year, doesn't mean they're not nearby and looking for an easy meal.
Had trouble sleeping last night. One little change in humidity and the sinuses go nuts. Sigh.
"Lord Spotacus?" Oh, no. He's not even inducted into DOTL yet, so he's definitely not getting a promotion like that.
I can see Sergeant Spotacus, maybe First Sergeant or even Command Sergeant Major Spotacus someday, but Lord? Lord, no....

I think he was referring to "lording" it over his humans.

Well since Spotacus no longer shares his manor, he is Lord of all he surveys and humans are his servants.

It's definitely spring at home. WLToo reports many bluebonnets have come up in our meadow. Hopefully, this is the start of a permanent bluebonnet residence there.
I'm missing the beauty of all the other wildflowers growing there. So far at Mom's, all we are seeing is a lovely little purple wildflower, whose name I forget. It's everywhere, almost a carpet.
Mom's early bulbs are blooming, and her lilies are growing like mad. Even if a nasty norther were to come through, it won't stop the greening up.
And it's so very nice to wear shorts again.
Later, y'all.

I would bet the flower you are seeing is henbit, it does get very thick and goes away when it gets really hot out.
