We had our final outing of the camping season this past weekend and had a little issue that I wanted to run by you guys. Last night was cold. Temps dropped down to the mid 30's. I had the thermostat set at 67 but when I awoke this morning my inside thermometer read 60 degrees and my furnace was not running. I had to raise the desired temp on my thermostat to 70 degrees before it would come on. My other problem I had was with how cold the bunk house got. It had to be a good 5 degrees colder (if not more) than the rest of the trailer. I guess ill have to stick a small heater in the back........

garysol, I remember reading that some people have found their heater ducting that runs to the bunkhouse disconnected. That may be the reason that your bunkhouse was cold. I think your thermostat may need adjusted for the issue of your camper being cold but it being set at 67. I have a temp thermocouple with my voltmeter and have checked the actual air temp with my thermo setting. Mine is within a couple degrees. 2011 Premier Bullet 31BHPR (Sold) 2015 Keystone 325 SRX 2008 Ford F-250 6.4L PowerStroke FX4 ![]() |

I may run out side and physically check the temp of the air coming out of the bunkhouse outlet. Not sure why I did not check that this morning...... |

It made a big difference when I put my digital one in. For the Bunkhouse being colder, mine was like that as well and I discovered the hose was disconnected at the furnace plenum for the rear vents, you may want to take the cover off below your fridge and make sure they are all connected good. Just so you know, my cover was attached with the square bit screws. Edit- my bad, I started typing my response then came back a little later to finish...didn't mean to repeat... 2009 Chevy Z71 CrewCab 2010 Bullet Premier 31BHPR |

I have a variety of thermometers setup in the RV (bunkhouse, queen bed, dining, and thermostat) and there are wide variations in the temperature especially when it gets cold outside. There are even differences between the thermostat on the wall and the thermometer above the dinette. The bunkhouse is always the coldest even though I checked the heater ducting located under the fridge and all the connections look fine. Keep in mind, too, there is a draft to the outside kitchen from the bunkhouse if you haven't blocked off the TV with the plexiglass mod. That's one of my modding plans for the future. I found that the digital thermostat needed to be set several degrees higher than normal (i.e. 72 or 74 instead of 68), to make it feel more comfortable inside. I discovered this was because the thermostat would not actually turn on until the temp dropped a few degrees or so below the set temp. I believe it is designed that way, so that the heater is not constantly cycling on and off at the slightest change in temp--which could be quite annoying. Although, the variance that garysol experienced does seem wider than you'd normally expect. I don't think the Premier is insulated enough for cold weather and the internal temperature drops quite quickly. Last winter, we basically used up an entire 20 lb. propane tank every weekend. This year I bought a couple of portable electric heaters from Walmart. The smaller Lasko one is only 200w and is perfect for in the bathroom. The other Sunbeam one is 1000w or 1500w and when setup on the floor between the sofa and the dinette, heats the entire RV very, very warmly--even the bunkhouse. I keep the curtains open a few inches to allow for air flow. BTW, the Walmart online prices seem to be a lot expensive when I purchased the heaters in-store earlier at the end of summer. They were only $10 and $13, respectively. Now, we never need to use propane for heat which should save us a lot of money this winter! 2007 GMC Yukon XL Denali ~ 2010 Keystone Premier 31BHPR ~ Sold: 2009 Tango 289BH ProPride 3P Hitch ~ RV Modifications ~ Gear & Accessories ~ Road Trip 2010 ![]() |

I do have a Pelonis radiator style electric heater that I need to start bringing along. Assuming all my ducts are connected I can use it to bring the bunk house up a few degrees without cooking us out of the master. Who ever decided to install the master bed room heater vent pointing directly UNDER the bed comforter needs to be shot....lol

With the temps at night dropping into the low 40s to mid 30s all that we have used is a 1500w portable heater that I got in Korea to use in the field (I firmly believe that it has saved my life on more than one night). We set it up in the kitchen and it keeps the whole trailer warm. All that I do is set the thermostat on the portable to about half way and let it ride. We have yet to use the built in heater this winter. Just as a reminder for anyone doing some winter camping, dont forget to turn your digital therostat to auto so that the A/C doesnt run as the heater runs. On a seperate note, does anyone else use a satalite dish? We went with dish network simply because I can control 2 of the 3 tvs with one box. I just piggybacked off of the kids tv for my bedroom tv that I added. So if my son is playing XBox in the back, my wife can watch tv in the living room, and I can watch tv in the bedroom. I'll post pictures of everything that I have done and get them posted as soon as I can. * This post was edited 10/25/11 02:14pm by NetAndDavid * 2011 Bullet Premier 31BHPR 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD No Mission Too Difficult No Sacrifice Too Great DUTY FIRST! 31BHPR Mods |

Hi all Premier owners, I'm new to this forum but not new to camping forums in general. We just bought a 2012 Premier 28RLPR and love it. I'm happy to have found this forum and whoa!, a LOT of pages to read through! I'm finding a lot of great information and hope to contribute as well. I have a blog (linked on my signature) and welcome comments. Thanks for letting me take a minute of your time. Kevin "Onward thru the fog!" ![]() |

David...... Do you use the original coax input to get the satellite signal into the trailer and if so were there any mods you had to make?
