So month two of our temp full timing down and no real issues to report. The only thing that I do have a question on is: When I go to dump my black tank (I keep it closed so that the methane gas smell stays out) there is an overwhelming stench the comes from the area of my dump valve. It stays around for about an hour or so, then goes away. I have checked my dump hose for leaks, all around the valve, under the camper and I don't see any leaks anywhere. What could be causing this odor? I use sani-tabs in my tank and leave my gray valve open all the time. Any suggestions would help. 2011 Bullet Premier 31BHPR 2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 HD No Mission Too Difficult No Sacrifice Too Great DUTY FIRST! 31BHPR Mods |

David, I think what might be happening is that you obviously have a leak somewhere but only getting fumes through. You said that you always keep the grey open. Close off the grey and build it up. Next time you empty your black, follow right behind that with the grey. I think some of your black "stuff" may be staying in the lines and getting flushed out when someone uses the grey system.

Do you also have that smell even after using the black tank flush?

We just renewed our annual site and are preparing for another season of cold weather RVing. I bought a small electric heater from Walmart for $13 that does a great job of keeping the interior warm. I also got a hose and adapter for our table-top patio heater to accept a 20lb propane tank. When I have it setup in front of the outside kitchen under our 10x10 canopy with 2 walls up, it's quite cozy and comfortable--especially with the lights up. It's also great having a large area protected from the rain. I just remembered that I did a little modification to the front TV and stereo last weekend that I really like. I'll post up some pictures later. |

I did an additional mod to the Premier last weekend. It was something that I wasn't planning on doing, but should have done a lot earlier. I don't like to carry a lot of DVDs and most of the media that we watch (me and the kids) is stored on my iPod. I have a lot of movies, podcasts, and kids shows on it. I thought it was really convenient because there was the cable that came with the DVD headunit to watch external sources. The only problem is having that cable sticking out from the front when it's being used. Because it sticks out so much, it gets bumped into accidentally a lot. The first major time, the socket cracked and the plug was loose, but it was still usable. The second major hit was the death blow because the mini-plug snapped and got embedded in the headunit. I had planned on trying to get access to the back of the TV to use the rear inputs, but I couldn't figure out how to do that without causing major damage. It was also impossible to try to run the wires through the vertical pipe of the swivel mount. So instead I looked in behind the DVD headunit because it was easy to remove: 1. First you carefully remove the trim and it exposes four screws that hold the headunit in. 2. Once that's done, the whole thing slides out and you can see the nest of wires in behind it: Luckily, all the wires are clearly labeled and I could see that the Aux1 input was not used. Aux3 is for the front input (which is now broken on mine). I followed the factory wiring and ran the wires for my iPod through the hole I had cut for the antenna booster in the cabinet above the TV and dropped them down the wall. Then I cut an additional two holes (one through each section) in the little shelf under the TV for the iPod to connect to the rear of the DVD headunit: Now the entire setup is much neater and tidier. We can watch all our media without extra wires hanging all over the place. Even if you don't have an iPod, you could run regular RCA cables there for external input. I think they should have done something like that straight from the factory. Anyway, I'm happy now that everything works again and I really like the clean look to it. Plus, my wife doesn't feel so bad anymore about busting up the DVD player ![]() |

We bought our 27RBPR this spring and camped pretty much every weekend this year, mostly within 2-4 hours of home but a couple of road trips.. Everything on the unit is great.. But then I went to winterize it and give it a good cleaning and noticed a crack in the fiberglass from the lower left corner of the front drivers side clearance light moving up and towards the center of the trailer.... Sorry pic isn't too clear, but it is the best of the dozen I took..... I haven't talked to dealer yet, but here's hoping they are going to fix... I actually think FIXING the crack may be preferrable to replacing the entire front nose cone.... I think the potential for leaking is less that way so I am going to see what they come up with. You guys may want to get up on ladder and check yours as well (you can't see it from ground level). ![]() |
