Mobile sport wrote:Unbelievable ,, I took my carb apart and it looked clean as could be , didn't think cleaning it was going to work but I went ahead and bought some carb cleaner , I sprayed it through all the holes and soaked the jet for a couple hours , made sure everything was dry and put back together.
Fired it up and I couldn't believe it kept running !!!!!!
Thanks AISurffish
Forgot to mention , man that was easy , I don't use the red Honda case so basically unbolted the air filter , slide off the carb ,
Disassemble carb , spray , assemble.
Just curious, why don't you use the red Honda case? Your entire case is removed? Is there an advantage to that? How is the noise level?

I use a guitar string to clean the emulsion tube with all the little holes. Then carb cleaner and air. But this has been an annual event for me. So I have come to expect it, even after I run it dry, use 100% gas/no ethanol, and drain the bowl. But I love my Honda 2000IE.

I have a Honda eu1000i generator that has been faithful for a long time. Upon starting it this year, however, it would surge and stop. The key to fixing it was near the end of your eu2000i service tips. The main jet is beneath the float chamber bolt, just as you describe. The gunk in the bowl was obvious, but that main jet was hard to find in the eu1000i tips. It was clogged solid. Cleaning it as you describe has my faithful generator purrrring again. Thank you.

Excellent. Many of us have had that condition... Amazing the junk that collects in the bowl.
Some of us have added inline filters to catch stuff... Amazing the water that will collect in it.
That **** Ethanol will turn to molasses... Just put an oz of E10 gas in a small glass jar, leave the lid off and see what you have after it all evaporates!

I just posted in another thread. I bought one and ordered another to combine. Two weeks old and shuttering and stopping. I used a new plastic fuel can, new fuel, ran good for a day after cleaning out with Seafoam. Then issue again, maybe it's Californians ethanol ****? I used 91 grade. I don't see this happening with the Yamahas as much. I was thinking of converting to Propane but that's $200 per hint. I've owned many Honda products, from cars, motors and power equipment. Never any issues except the 09 civic wasn't as good. I bought through Amazon, I'll send them back. One I had to rest on my trailer tongue against the diamond plate since I couldn't set on tailgate (has to use truck) and it scratched up the plastic. Other choice was on ground with dry hay, didn't plan on returning it. Had dogs in trailer with ac on. Dry camping arggggg

Hundo24, I really doubt there is anything wrong with the Honda generator. Everything I have read says it is a bad idea to run 91 fuel in most small engines.
What you described the Honda does, shuttering and stopping, sounds like you are not opening the vent on the fuel cap. I suggest you take your Honda to a small engine repair shop and have it checked out.
You say you are in Cailf. If you indicate where in Calif someone with experience or knowledge of a shop might be able to help you.

I used 87 when this started. A mechanic in another forum recommended 91 because when there's ethanol in the fuel your 87 is less. I pulled the plug, it's running lean. Cap has been adjusted half way, 1/4 as some have suggested, no help. Only runs good with half choke. Another guy had the same problem, the Honda dealer couldn't figure it out? I'll pull cover off to check inline fuel filter. We can't be down a week or two. This is new and the benefit with Amazon I can get two Yamahas within two days. Honda isn't want it use to be across the board imo. I've owned over 12+ Moto's and cars power equipment in the past is why I went back. There's too many issues with the fuel/carbs with Honda. Not as many with Yamaha, not as sensitive with poor fuel as we have in California (placerville)
Thanks all

Help is available, I live in the Placerville area. Check your PMs.
As I understand, all gasoline in Calif by law is required to have a minimum of 10 percent ethanol. Some stations have more.
