the route south was along the coast.... the route North east took us through Houston and back to Lake Charles and then north. The Street Atlass tried to reroute some of the trip down... the green line is a bread crumb trail....

We pulled into our favorite city parking spot exhausted.... a long drive... and a drive accros Houstan...
We had been there for a while... tsken showers... had a snack....
and heard something.... neighbors (a very rate thing) They looked at the MH...scratched their heads and left in a truck...

We were so tired that we parked nose into the prevailing wind... the levels said "good"... we wouldn't be looking at the lake that night.
We went to sleep early... When I woke I went outside to check the weather.... would we stay over for a few says or continue home the next day.
I got a picture of the abandoned MH behind us.

The next morning we found out that dealers were setting up an RV Show.... they must have thought that we were part of it... no one said a thing to us about being there....
We stayed another night and left on the morning of the Show... I hope they didn't save our spot for us.
we are so familiar with Lake Charkes as we pass thru that we routinely use the neighborhood dhort cuts...
We had our laundry done for us and are on our way to pick it up before we leave town (Janet isn't able to do it at this point)
Divided streets with parks in between... Nice!

Just a short geography note here.
I worked the border many times in the Brownsville area. The Rio Grande is almost used up as it enters the Gulf of Mexico by all the irrigation water taken out of it.
Fact, by the time it goes past Brownsville, it is no more than a large creek.
Final note, as it reaches the Gulf of Mexico, there's a large amount of sand there dropped by the river as it forms it's small delta. Few years back, the Rio Grande got so low it failed to reach the Gulf of Mexico for some time.
Amazing because when first discovered, the Rio Grande at it's ending in the Gulf of Mexico (Texas-Mexico border) was described as large as the Nile River in Egypt. At one time, ocean going ships would go upriver to Brownsville.
No more. Just not enough flow.
