The laugh of the week is still the guy that won't spend $4.75 a day for one gallon of diesel fuel to drive his D-Max to and from work, a total of 20 miles a day. He paid over $30,000 for the truck, is paying insurance on it, but won't spend $4.75 a day. Unreal. Some of these posts about parking your truck because you can't afford to put gas in it, or dealers won't take it on trade-in at any price are fiction. The actual guy that won't spend four bucks a day for one gallon of fuel, now that's nuts.

Same story around here. A guy with a new Dodge CTD parked it when it hit 4.00 stating he won't drive it until it comes back down. That was a few months ago and is now driving it again. Our town has a population of 2200 so it is small, in fact he lives 3 blocks from work.

Can you back that up? I can show that they have tried to CLOSE refineries to drive the price up.
Marathon Refinery Detroit
On the other hand, can you name me a refinery (location and owner please) and provide a reputable link to verify that the refinery was closed to drive up the price?

In the last few hours, it's dropped back $5 to 130+. WHOPEEE!!
Gentlemen, start your engines!!
Canuk, if we get sick, then we just don't get to go. If I got out on the highwy at these prices, I would feel like a damn fool when I fueled-up - I couldn't be angry because I asked for it! For me, nothing would justify recreatonal travel right now. It's the principle of the thing. They'll hafta find somebody else to screw 'cause they ain't gettin' my money.

Notice none of them ever report selling 'em, and not all of them are TVs. (tow vehicles) Not to split hairs, but a D-Max not towing gets nearly 20 mpg, and a CTD surely does as well. So they run out and buy a $30,000 dollar Prius, but don't sell the truck. Some people do ridiculously nutty things.

Ummm, that's an article where they ARE expanding a refinery. What about one that has been denied? And what about new refineries being denied?

Hum - do you know how to back pedal?
I showed you my proofs, all I am asking is to see your proofs.

Nope. I asked you to backup your claim that the government and environmentalists are STOPPING refinery expansion and new construction. I cannot see where you have done that. Feel free to quote something (from that article or another) that backs that up.

Hi Joe and Mrs J:
Those fellows, with the DMax and CTD, are trying in their own way to make a statement - a kind of one man Boston Tea Party if you will. Rather than being ridiculed, they should be commended for at least making some small effort to offer resistance rather than just lying there and taking it! If we had a few million more like them, diesel would be $2/gal. Maybe the guys that should be ridiculed are the ones who gleefully pay exhorbitant prices and then make fun of those who try to resist - now that's just nuts :-):-0
