San Sebastian has a terrific Basque festival every year about this time, featuring wonderful baritone singers who've spent the year up in the high pastures singing from valley to valley and hilltop to hilltop with news.
I suppose you noticed the 20 or so empty customs shacks at the Spain-France border, courtesy of the EU.
Biarritz is also beautiful, especially for golfers.

my friends went to a small lake in PA camped out. at dawn they heard the clomp, clomp, clomp of horse hooves on the ramp. seemed some amish liked to fish that lake. ramp ended up as you say dodging the fruit.

we came in on train so we missed that.
Noticed diesel was 1.31 today. Diesel plus is 1.36 Off to Barcelona tomorrow. Picked up a few words of Basque. Basque is the spoken language here but obviously Castellano is the go to language and to a lesser degree french. Im comfortable in Castellano and French but have enjoyed dabling in Basque. Very interesting culture here. Hope to be back someday. Made some good friends. We had a personal tour of Francos summer residence which is normally closed to tourism. We have been hiking 12 to 15 KM every day for 5 weeks. Time to move on and maybe rest a bit in Barcelona. One more swim in the ocean tomorrow morning.

Happy days.
Travel time is here and as long as the rains hold off the summer is getting along swell.
Been on a few outings with the new truck and the electronics really make towing a lot easier.
Fuel doesn't seem a problem it is still lower then back in 2008 when it went to $5 bucks for diesel.
Have fun and happy trails.
Going to the UP again what fun, a great state for RVing.

Gasoline prices have been like a yo-yo. This morning gasoline prices varies from $3.58 to 3.65. Diesel varies from $3.73 to $3.99. Oil prices are $107.26. wonder how the "war" is going in Syria/Iraq????

Arrived in Barcelona last night. Noticed the prices here about 3 cents higher than St Sebastian in the north. Less RV'S on the road here but talked to a local and he said there are a couple of campgrounds a little ways out of town. Before the 90 day thingcame Iin here there were apparently quite a few snowbirds that would stay to the south of here. This a big city and im never in my comfort zone in big cities but with the exception of German cities Spanish cities seem the best maintained, cleanest, well preserved with a combination of history and modern infrastructure, excellent facilities and services and an obvious forward looking society that employs the latest in transportation, energy and urban development. I love the public transportation options here. High speed trains that interconnect with metros (watch for pick pockets) buses and rental bike systems for an hour a day a week or a year. I think we used them all today. That and we hiked at least 12 miles today and I swesr to god uphill both ways. If you dont like hills this is not your town. Off to dinner and then collapse. Im married to the tour guide from hell. Wish she wasn't in such good shape.

A person could get tired just contemplating visiting the rich modern history of Barcelona, what with Picasso, Miro, Dali and Gaudi and others. What a riot!
Barcelona is a heritage treasure.

Pioneer Oil is pushing to be able to export a minimally refined oil known as condensate. This is from the light sweet crude from the Texas shale oil.
So much for the theory that USA oil refiners would get more business refining and exporting gasoline and diesel. The oil extractors like Pioneer can get more money for the crude on the world market.
