Here's Sage Creek Campground in the Badlands National Park, SD. It was April 11-12, 2012. This is 13.5 miles off the pavement with no hookups. I was the only person there & shared it with the buffalo.

Steveh27 - my kind of remote site. What are those structures in the circle? Cabanas?

Renee,

Those are shades for the picnic tables. There are vault toilets as well. I had my Dish Tailgator out & got great sat TV.

WOW! Does it have cell phone service? Verizon, medical reasons preclude our being so remote we can not reach out.

I doubt if cell service reaches out there. I didn't try. I understand this isolated place gets a few more campers during the warmer months, but always has room. The gravel road is a washboard in some places.

Humboldt-Toiyable National Forest, just west of the Hoover Wilderness, northeast of Tioga Pass, Yosemite, at about 9300 feet, in early July, 2014, around 10 pm -- DW patiently posing by the door of the trailer for my time exposure:
