Dan, after your description of her, I see her torso, the belly button and the arms crossed along with her legs, but I cant see the face.

It must have been the distraction with the whole picture shown.

I like the new Earthroamer, but 100,000 without options?!? I could build one hell of a jeep with a nice roof tent for a quarter of the cost, and use the rest of the money to travel full time for a few years.

Earthroamers are beautiful, but so unrealilistcally priced, I cant see spending that amount on them

I was only joking with the Laying off the sauce stuff, I hope you know that.

No worries, everymilesamemory, I know you were kidding...

I agree about the earthroamer, I could do alot with that $100k also. DW and I were talking about when we go fulltime, and if $$ were no issue we would pull that earthroamer behind the RV for those times we wanted to "rough it" in the backcountry places we couldn't take the RV. But, if $$ were no issue, we would be retired and fulltiming now!

The "girl" has a puffy face, it is eroded away just above her forehead, and I can see 2 eyes and a nose. Of course, there are lotsa things I "can see", but that is just me and my 5 personalities!

I just find that picture fun, and a great conversation piece.

Dan, I can't see the girl.[emoticon] You are not the first person to point her out to me, it's been a few years but I could see her then either.

I think I will pring the picture and look at it again.

Well well, I am not the only one who sees her! Amazing...

Mt. Antero is not a "pass"; but at 14,269' it is the 10th highest peak in CO (Pikes Peak at 14,110 is the 31st highest in CO and at 14,433 Mt Elbert is the highest) and I believe Mt Antero is the highest point in CO you can drive a vehicle.
I believe the road on Antero stops just below 13,800'

It may be closed because of land ownership issues down lower, but in the old days, we went to the top of Mt. Bross (14,172') on old mining roads. From there, one used to be able to drive north along the ridge all the way to around 14,200' on Mt. Lincoln.

The parking lot at the top of Mt. Evans is >14,120' and is probably the highest you can drive in CO today. The parking lot at the top of Pike Peak is 14,110'

Rumor has it that someone has actually "driven" (some winching too) a jeep to the top of Mt. Elbert (14,433')! From what I remember, before the road was closed it looks like one could drive to around 14,200'.

So did any of you try Webster Pass or come down Red Cone the year the guy with the Toyota FJ40 had tried to make the drift at the top of Webster before it was open? It has slid sideways off the road on the snow. Talk about pucker factor. It looked like we could have easily pushed it off the mountain without much effort. We had passed a tow truck coming down that had taken one look at it and decided it wasn't worth risking his vehicle to try to rescue it. I wonder what it cost just to get a 4x4 tow truck up there?

To the best on my memory, the "peak" of Mt Antero has been closed for quite a few years, lat time we were there was back in about 1987.

We went up Webster Pass once only to be stopped by snow, we turned around and went over Red Cone, we never did do Webster, the pucker factor crossin the top of Red Cone was just too good to pass up.

I've climbed Antero four times since 1978 and I doubt there was ever a road near the top. It's way too steep.

Here is a picture of the ridge up Antero looking back at the parking area. You can see there's not much room for a road.

Great picture, thanks. Memory is slipping [emoticon][emoticon]

My hats off to you for climbing any of those mountains. I couldn't breath up there and we drove.[emoticon]

This was one of our favorite camping spots for years, Cardiff Fork in Big Cottonwood Canyon along the Wasatch Front.

You can see our truck back in the trees. We camped out of the back of this truck for years. We used to think if it didn't take a 4-wd in low range to get there then you weren't camping.

Today we don't feal the same way.[emoticon][emoticon]

Here's a Wasatch Front site that didn't require low 4. It was pretty much OK. You can see the back of the RV tucked into the trees on the left.
