Ok so here are today's weights. These are with a full tank of fuel, family in the TV and trailer loaded up with everything except food.
2014 Chevy Silverado 3500 (crew cab 4x4 duramax long bed LT package)
Truck specs
Gvwr 11,600 lbs
GCWR 24,500 lbs
GFAWR 5600 lbs
GRAWR 7050 lbs
Truck no trailer (reese 16k hitch in bed)--
Front axle 4900 lbs
Rear axle 3380 lbs
Total truck weight 8280 lbs
Available payload - 3320 lbs
Adjusted towing capacity- 16220 per numbers but manufacturer lists 16000 as my max so we will call it that.
Truck with 2014 Palomino Sabre 34REQS-6 attached
Front axle 4900 lbs
Rear axle 6000 lbs
Trailer 9760 lbs
Total combined weight 20,660 lbs
It looks like I have a 5er weight of 12,380 lbs and it looks like my pin weight is 2620 lbs. So I'm well within specs.
2014 Silverado 3500 Duramax, SRW, Crew Cab, 4WD
2014 Palomino Sabre 34REQS -
2011 Crossroads Zinger ZT26BL - sold in 2014

weighed mine on the way home last week. Truck and trailer are listed in my sig below. I didnt go through the hassle of unhooking the trailer either. Just ran across the scale and got a weight. all tanks were empty including fuel tank. and just me in the truck and the dog in the trailer.
Truck with trailer hooked up. : 8740lbs.
truck and trailer combined : 18840
Never weighed just the trailer axles cause I was too lazy to get out and walk back to read the scales

Hello folks!
On a recent trip DFW to Colorado we finally weighed our rig. It was fully loaded, water, fuel, critters and humans and not too surprisingly we look like we are over weight....
I have a 2004 F350 dually which looks like the manufacturer spec sheet says the 5the wheel towing capacity is 14200. Based on the numbers from the door frame, I look ok, but from the specs I can find, I could be as much as 6k# over the GCVWR. From what I can find, the GCVWR for the truck is 20k#.
I only took one weight as there was a line and we wanted to move along, so I didn't weigh the rig by itself. I simply pulled onto the three scale system and got the following.
Capacity on truck door frame
Front 5200
Rear 8250
GVW 11500
Actual CAT scales weight
Front 5200
Rear 7680
Trailer 13420
Gross weight 26300
We are seriously considering a truck upgrade as there is no way we can shave enough weight to get in spec...that is assuming of course that we really are over weight.
Any thoughts here?
Thanks so much!
Tom

You are at or under your axle weights on your TV. Does the truck handle the load well? If so enjoy the ride.

Truck loaded with me, DW, and dog, full tanks of fuel, a few tools. Trailer loaded for travel, 1/2 tank water, empty holding tanks, close to full LP tanks.
Truck alone: GVW - 8525 GVWR - 13025
Trailer alone: GVW - 14275 GVWR - 15500
Truck/Trailer combined: GCW - 22800 GVCWR - 30500 Pin - 3725 20K hitch
We have enough margin to add a combo washer/dryer. Other than that I don't plan to add anything else.
Thanks to all on here that recommended a 1 ton dually. Pulls like a dream, even in fairly heavy wind conditions.

Hello all! Thanks for posting this very important topic of weight. Previously we have had two TT's and one older MH. Sold the last TT in June and looking for small fiver. TV is a 2010 Chevy Silverado HD, 3.73 axle ratio with a tow rating of 9900#'s. Just had a HUGE lesson in tow weight as we put a contract in on a 2015 FR Wildcat 282RKX at the Hershey RV show. Brochure weight: 8300; trailer weight on side of rig: 8878. We didn't catch the 8878 until we got home (going back to pick up rig). Called and had them re-check the weight and confirmed 8878. Started the math: GCVR is 16K. Truck is 5840, fiver is 8878, add in people, dog, hitch, fuel, cargo, etc... we were just over the 16K. Dealer was great as we went back up and they weighed the rig at a scale: came in at 9000 lbs! Thankfully we were let our of the contract and now searching for something much lighter! Lesson learned: brochure weight is a down out lie as is stamped weight on side of vehicle. Anyone??????

That 5er has a GVWR of 11,700#, you were well out of the league of your TV. This is what happens when you look at DRY weight instead of GVWR.
Is the 2010 Chevy Silverado HD, 3.73 axle ratio with a tow rating of 9900#'s, a 1500HD, or a 2500 HD, with that tow rating must be a 6.0 gas.

The salesman had to know that this trailer was way over the limits for your truck. It is so disappointing that no salesperson will level with the customer and sit down and explain weights, limits and risks. It's all about the sale and making their commission. I've been through 3 trucks and 3 trailers in the past 5 yrs and at no time did a salesman talk to me about how the weights and ratings all fit together. Learned it all on my own by experience and reading. So very disappointing. Salesmen deserve the reputation they have.
