Yep, looks like you are good for weight police. I don't know anything about the 5.3l engine but coupled with a 3.42 rear end you might be wishing for a lower rear end ratio or a bigger engine in Colorado. Especially when the air gets thin. Only way to know is try it. Take a road trip down to I10 around Kerrville and see how it does on those grades. That will give you an idea. While there stop at Buckhorn RV Park. Very nice park right off of I10.

Go I35E to Belton then 190 West to 281 and then South to San Antonio and West on I10. It will tell you a lot about your combo.

You probably won't even add 100# to your front axle loaded. With 4,500# pin weight of that only 100# goes to my front axle. I have my B&W hitch full forward.

Why do you need sway bars? Are you going to haul a slide in camper?

Nope,
just because I wanted one.
(and it was the last thing I could get thrown in on the new truck deal once I rung out as much discount as I could[emoticon])

I did notice a bit of side to side on my last tow so interested to see if it improves...

know it will improve the around town handling - I won't have to borrow the wife's sports car [emoticon]

Biggest question is Why Not a Sway Bar? My 01 has one as part of the Camper Package, wouldn't mind if it was a bit bigger, no issues with sway, but isn't bigger always better??

The reason I asked is because my 98 Ram 4X4 has one and it is very stable side to side. My 11 Dually does not have one and it is stable side to side. I assumed they did something to the newer suspensions that made it to where they were not needed as much.

NOT a fair comparison between srw and drw as far as sway bar needed or not...

mine is srw and it wasn't NEEDED, just that I like it to handle corners better and from experience a sway bar makes your vehicle feel more 'planted'...
(but then you need to make sure everything is tied down better so it won't go sliding across the dash on those faster turns [emoticon] )

I've done sway bars on sports cars AND trucks - just personal preference that I like the handling improvements !

TV: 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW w/ 4.10 gears
Camper: Early model-year 2013 Sabre 36QBOK

Weighing just prior to a 3-week trip (2 weeks camping, 1 week at a beach house). I had just filled both propane tanks and was carrying my usual 1/3-1/2 tank of freshwater as well as carrying our usual/quite a bit of drinking water (2 cases of bottled water and 7.5 gallons in jugs).

In the truck, we had myself, my wife, her mother and 2 kids (9 and 1). The truck bed was pretty full with beach stuff, EZ-up and my ladder:

The tickets:

Totals:
Truck Weight when Hitched Up:
5,300 + 6,660 + 75 = 12,035 pounds (GVWR: 12,300)

Pin Weight:
(5,300 + 6,600) - 9,420 = 2,540 pounds

Camper Weight:
12,280 + 2,540 = 14,820 pounds (GVWR: 15,825 pounds)

Pin Weight Percentage:
2,540 / 14,820 = 17%

Gross Combined Weight:
24,240 pounds (GCWR: 28,000 pounds)

Length over all: 58 1/2'

I note you didn't mention your tire size & LR. Am I correct to assume ST235/85R16 LR-E ?
Also that you set to 80 psi cold each morning of travel.

and that the load split Axle to axle is 46/54 or better

and side to side on heavy axle is 46/54 or better?
