Here's my upgraded tow monster we bought Friday. We went form an '03 Toyota Sequoia to this '09 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. Towing our 29' Shasta has now become much more enjoyable. The Sequoia's 118" wheel base didn't fare well with the length of the Shasta, creating some unsettling interstate driving. I hitched up today and took it on an interstate run around town. The difference was remarkable! Surprised the towing mpg on the Sierra (6.0L V8) is about 1mpg higher than the Sequoia (4.7 L V8).

We weren't in favor of adding new debt, but it was either that or sell the trailer and buy a tent. Nah! [image]

Nice truck, but you can't expect much with that 6.0L. It's an engine that just gets you from point A to B,...with nothing exciting about how you got there.

While towing, I wouldn't want an 'exciting' ride. I'll take the calm and easy ride.

Nice truck. I also learned that a fullsize truck with a larger or more powerful motor can get better fuel economy.

My 2008 Sport Trac with the 4.6L 3V V8 got about 1.5 to 2.0 mpg 'worse' towing the smaller Jay Flight 19BH than what my 2012 F150 5.0L gets towing the much larger Jay Flight 26BH. [emoticon]

I bought a truck a little over 3k lbs more with a larger displacement engine and got almost twice the fuel mpg when empty! Did not expect that.... 2005 F150 crew cab 5.4L to a 2007 F350 Crew cab 6.0L. F150 got 9-12 mpg. f350 gets 18-21

What I meant by "exciting" was things like acceleration,...or just maintaining a decent speed while climbing hills. That was just in reference to a Duramax, since he has a GMC,...which is why I stated point A to B, lol.

New to me 2014 Ram Mega 2500 With 6.4 Hemi Big Horn. Guy before me took off all the badges and added the Micky Thompson tires, rims and running boards. Pulls so much better than the Duango, added length makes the difference. Wish it had tow mirrors, Not finding any to put on but the clip one. Only had 18k miles. It's my DW daily driver.

Hello, im new here and fairly new to recreational camping.. We bought our travel trailer in September of 2014 and she sat until April for our first trip. Since April we have had it out at least 5 times. In a week we will be headed for some dry camping in Bristol. I just wanted to show off our little Tow-mobile. It most certainly could use more torque, but she will do for now.
