I need to get a new shank with a bigger drop for the WDH and get it all setup prior to the first trip.

I was in your situation (same truck) and ordered this longer shank on Amazon:

It works with my Reese Dual Cam and is a lot cheaper than the $180 shank the RV dealer tried to sell me. Haven't used it yet, but will be camping over Easter weekend.

Congrats on the truck! We love ours.

Thanks for the information. We have the 10k Equalizer. I am finding them from 150.00 to 220.00 for the 2.5" version.

Did you get a 2" and plan on using the adapter the truck came with? I was looking for the 2.5" so I don't have to use the adapter since the Class V is 2.5"

Yes, I use the adapter. I towed it about 2,000 miles with the new truck and the old hitch and just let it sit nose-high. I definitely got a little sway, so I'm going to level it out with the new shank and continue to use the adapter.

Cummins12V98, thats an awesome setup you have. It will probably be a few years till we step up to a fith wheel but ya never know. Having a truck ready to do it might shorten that wait lol.

Finally got a halfway decent pic of our TV. It has expanded it's role in our family now that we have three little ones... It's the only vehicle in our fleet that will fit us all [emoticon]

Around here, several of us have had troubles with the adapters. Yes, I have a Ford, and two of my buddies each have a Dodge and a Chevy. My toyhauler(deer camp trailer) is only 8k pounds and it has been the adapter. If you ever tow with a WDH and the shank is even just a little difficult to remove, don't use it again or take the chance of the adapter not coming out. I thought at first it was just my truck and another Ford that sometimes camps with us, as his will NOT come out now, but it's happened with the Chevy and Dodge too. I am going to solve this problem by getting this Blue Ox shank. It is a 2.5", so no need for an adapter. I'm sure more mfrs will make them soon.
