sushidog: That pic cracked me up!

I don't disagree with any of you. No way I would do it but just thought I'd throw it out here for everyone's amusement.

We must all be getting so old and set in our ways that we cannot accept new technology.

I don't own one, but I have checked it out. Before I commented on it.

16 inch E rated tires, steerable axle, has its own brakes.

From memory, at least 4,000 pound pin weight capacity, fastens to the tow vehicle with a three point hookup system, so it is indeed NOT just a bumper pull.

I just wish folks would take the time to at the least investigate new ideas before issuing such scathing comments about them.

Well one feature is that it could make a good pulling TV like my 6.4l F-250, that has limited bed capacity (tongue wt. for a fiver) and make it more usable. Ford says my truck is rated to pull 15,900 lbs, yet only has a weight capacity of 2,730lbs. So let's say I am carrying 300 lbs of passenger and cargo wt.,(super easy to do) that lowers the max trailer's tongue wt. to 2,430 lbs. So If I have a 15klb fiver with 20% tongue wt. (3,000 lbs) it would be overloaded. I like the winch idea too as you could use your truck as an anchor point to get out of a sandy or muddy treeless spot - great if it rains while you are boondocking down a dirt road and it's time to leave.

The only disadvantage I see (other than the added vehicle length) is the added weight of the device itself which must be subtracted from your vehicle's towing capacity. So if it weighs, say 800lbs (I have no idea how much it weighs as the website does not say) that means one must subtract the 800 lbs from your vehicle's tow rating, leaving me close to where I started, as far as how large a fiver I can pull.

Now imagine I want to throw my 2 motorbikes, generator, tools and a couple 5 gallon cans of gas in the bed - under a topper, to keep my goodies out the weather. With this device I could still pull a light weight fiver - plus add additional stopping power too. However I do think pulling a fiver with a smart car may be overreaching a tad. [emoticon]

finally responded to my request for pricing....by spamming me w/ FOUR emails w/ more "marketing" stuff.

they did not include any specs (weight/length etc).
I imagine that shipping is not included in this pricing,

I remember seeing something like this in a link on here awhile ago but it was bumper pulled like a dolly that semis use when pulling doubles and triples. I think it is a good idea for those who need its features. For everyone else a properly configured truck probably would suffice.

Everyone thinks you need a dually to tow - They were right. I have a pintle hitch for those heavy tongue weights and some Dodge mirrors for those wide loads.
