Just finished a pull from Miami to Seattle with the new Suburban I picked up a few months back. 5525 miles and 734 gallons of gas makes it the worst gas milage ever, but what a pleasant experience compared to the Trailblazer SS! Couple of bumps along the way with blown trailer tires, broken WD hitch, etc...but overall it was an awesome trip and the Suburban pulled like a beast!

Whoa! How did the WD break?? Glad you made it. Sounds like it was an awesome trip.

My thoughts exactly. Glad you are alright. I recognize that pull-out along Jackson Lake.

Not sure exactly how or when it broke, but I believe it happened somewhere on 287 out of Yellowstone. Actually didn't even notice it was broke until the following morning in Butte when I was doing a walk-around before taking off again. It ended up snapping the bracket in half that the sway bar connects to on the frame of the trailer. Luckily there was an RV place in town and they were able to get me all sorted out. It was definitely one of those moments where I looked at it and thought "Wow, that could've been bad!".

Good eye on the location Renee, that's exactly where I snapped this pic!

Here's my new TV.. picked 'er up in Colorado yesterday. Parked near a pickup for comparison.

I've been drooling over these rigs for years. It's a 2008 Freightliner Sportchassis M2 106, Cummins ISC 8.3L, not sure which tranny (it's huge), brand new Michelins, 53k miles, super clean, nice storage bins, trailersaver air hitch, air everything, Jake brake.. lots more.

Did a lot of homework including the new Ram or GMC pickups (which are pretty nice), and an HDT. This one seemed to stand out as the right one for me. The air seats are so comfortable I drove 340 miles (at mostly 75mph bobtail) today and was hardly aware of it. I couldn't even imagine going that far (or fast) in the old 450. I don't know my mileage yet as I was not successful in fully filling 2ea 50 gallons tanks. So much to learn.

So far a couple things I don't like:

a) Wind noise. Seems to be coming from the upper door frames. I don't think any air is actually leaking, and the seals look fine.
b) A/C. Struggles to keep the cab cool enough on this 90+ degree day. I'm comfortable enough as long as I don't stop and let the cab heat up. Then it takes awhile to cool down, and it's running full bore all the time.

Can't wait to get home and lash up the 5er which just got new shackles. Dang this is getting to be an expensive hobby!
