I checked it 4 times this summer and every time got 4 MPG. Yes that is right 4 MPG. I think it had a ECU problem sending the EFI into a default of full rich setting cause I have never seen anything that bad.

The 1 ton dually with 454 I just bought was converted over to a carburetor and on the way home from buying it I got 10 MPG. The next day I noticed that the vacuum advance was not hooked up and the electric choke was stuck part way closed, so I am hoping to get 13 MPG once I fix a few things. I will be thrilled if I get 8 MPG pulling the 5er

OMG - 4 mpg? And I thought 7 was bad with our 6.8L Gasser. Now getting 12 - 15 depending on terrain with our diesel.

I agree - 4 seems off for a 2500 Suburban. We get 7 to 8 with a family of five towing 8,500 pounds in the trailer.

Are any of you guys using custom tunes, after market exhaust/intakes or anything else to help with MPG's on your Suburbans?...or just running stock? I'm curious if there are any solutions producing gains that are worth looking into. I mean I'm guessing there are no magic bullets or anything, but it seems like even a small gain would be helpful.

I don't have anything on mine, but would be interested to know as well. I might suggest that you start a thread on that particular topic. You'll get more responses and won't take the risk of taking this thread too far off course. Chances are you will have most people tell you to slow down, but there may be some other ideas and experiences out there.

Yeah, thats a very good point. Probably not the place to steer off into an in-depth discussion on MPG's. I'll pull my thoughts together and toss them in a new thread.

Happy New Year everyone!

After months of looking and looking finally pulled the trigger on an 2012 F150 FX4 with the 5.0L engine.

This is a huge upgrade from the 2002 F150 that we replaced. Now to get the travel trailer hooked up and go camping.
