Topic: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Posted By: dturm on 05/28/19 07:08am

We just got back from a month in Jo Daviess county (extreme NW Illinois near Galena) where our son has some property and has an RV site set up for us.

We are in an area of the country where we've had too much rain. The Mississippi has been at or near flood stage for a record amount of time.

We got home just in time for a line of thunderstorms roll through the area that produced a small tornado that touched down about 5 miles north of us yesterday. Mostly trees blown down and some siding blown off. We were sitting it out in our safe area with the dogs and had no damage.

Burch, I hope Murphy is okay. Good idea to have her see the vet.

Phaeton Place is at the service center we use with a broken jack. Can't level without it and it's hard to find level campsites. They are still looking around for a jack. The system is obsolete and the company sold to Lippert. Lippert is no help, but they are checking to see if they may have some new old stock. We may be looking at putting an entirely new system on it. Big $$$$$. Don't really want to do that, but we aren't done traveling.

Today we got MinnieMee our little 22 1/2 ft. motorhome out of storage. She fired right up just like she was anxious to get out of the garage and on the road. The Gennie even fired up first try. We had to stop and get propane on the way home, then tried the fridge and it fired right up. We are leaving Monday for Mississippi to attend Terry's family reunion. We go every year and since we are taking the little one this time, we won't be towing a car. I really like taking her out because she's so easy to drive. And it's fun. No slides so there's not as much setup. We should have a great time and a great driver. Just going down and coming right back, but about a week. We will head over to Red Bay and see if we can find a jack over there for the big one.

Richard, I hope you are feeling better. Take care all.

Good morning everyone. Dale I had another good night's sleep and feel refreshed this morning. Post some pictures of the Minnie, would like to see it. Dr. Doug try to stay dry with all the flooding.

Yesterday the water pump in the Montana was replaced. The new pump sure is quiet. Jeff came over and replace some of the wood boards on the deck, did a great job. Sue is out this morning putting a stain on the new boards. Looking for some relief from the heat and the only place I see in up north in Ohio and Michigan. I don't think I can make those long trips anymore. It wears me out just thinking about it.

The fur gang is well, staying indoors as much as possible. It was 95 degrees yesterday and no rain in sight.

I don't know when we will take our next trip. It is so hot that it takes the fun out of being outside.

Okay I need to get moving so I will close wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Dale, there are a couple of RV wrecking yards that may have the jack you need.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and start of Summer. We are still getting more then our share of rain. It is showing signs of slowing down though. We did not get completely washed out this weekend. Some areas did get more then others and some flooding as well.
I went to Home Depot to get a battery back up sump pump and there were several people buying pumps while I was there.

We had a great time at my nieces property with a few family members over the weekend. We did get some rain. It seamed as soon as we started getting food together to eat that's when it started. But always seamed to let up when we started to eat.

Yeah, we aren't sure we would want to put a used one on the coach. All four of ours have been replaced at various times (some twice), so there isn't a lot of longevity. When this last one broke, it was really scary. We have just had trouble with the Atwood Levelegs for 14 years, so not sure we are going to go out of our way to keep them. When we go to the family reunion next week, we are 30 miles from Red Bay. So we will go over and check all the outlets over there. One guy in particular is said to have had some which could be new/old stock or perhaps used. But will check them out. MinnieMee will stand out like a sore thumb over there! Our service guy said to tell Bob Tiffin, "Look what you forced us to do! Drive some other brand because the Tiffin is laid up!" LOL

We have been having garage sales every weekend getting the house cleaned out. We have a 2-car garage we are setting up in which is nice in case it rains. But tomorrow shows no rain, so we are going to try and get more furniture, etc., out in the driveway.

I'll try to get MinnieMee posted.

We have an aluminum trunk we put on the back for all the "dirty" stuff. . . grill, sewer hoses, etc. Had to wait for the neighbor to come down to get it on. Terry and I can't lift it high enough. It's a big box, but has the hitch rails, etc., attached to it. We took her to Alaska and she was absolutely perfect for that. And she is for sale, but we need her for the summer. She pulls our 6x12 trailer and we have to take a load to Virginia. LOL

Good morning everyone Dale the MinnieMee looks good. Hope you have a nice trip and enjoy yourselves. Yesterday Sue and I talked about travels this summer and Sue wants to visit her brother John. I guess this will be the last chance to do that because our plans are to sell the camper and truck after this fall's trip to Sevierville. If we do we will stop by Dan and Lori's on the way home if they will have us. Anyway we are looking at July if we go. I'll know in a few days after we look at some things that are pending.

It continues to be very hot and dry. This weekend we will see temps in the 80's, but no forecast for rain. The fur gang is well, waiting for Sue to take them for a walk. Our granddaughter Holly wants to meet us for lunch today so I guess we will meet her in Fountain Inn at Sweet Catherine's.

Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
