We are getting the motorhome ready for an 8 day trip. I am dreading the drive on Friday as Florida is full of love bugs. I had to clean both Jeeps and my truck this weekend. Speaking of Jeeps, my 2 door Jeep has been out of windshield washer fluid for a couple of weeks (or so I thought). After church on Sunday I stopped at the auto parts store and picked up some washer fluid. I opened up the good when I got home and got a surprise. Some type of rodent or squirrel built a nest on top of my battery. Unfortunately, he shredded the black hood heat blanket that is attached to the bottom of the hood. I had black stuff hanging from the hood and lot of pieces of it shredded to make a nest along with leaves and pine needles. After I ripped out the nest, I noticed that several wires and cables under the hood had been chewed on. The reason the windshield washers weren't working is the tubes that connect to the hood had been eaten through. I don't live in the woods. In fact, I live on a very busy street so I have no idea what kind of critter did this. All I know is it's going to cost me some money for repairs. Here are some pictures of the damage. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 2018 Miramar 35.3 Motorhome 3 fur kids (Monty, ZuZu and Pinto) Rainbow bridge (Murphy, Petie, Lola) |

Rain rain go away. Another Rainy day in Ohio today. We only had 7 days in April that it did not rain . So far in May we only had 4 days of no rain. But looking good after Wednesday we should have 4 days in a row near 80 and no rain. Burch let your insurance pay for the damage. I don't think there is a deductible in a case like this.

Burch, our son Brandon said the lovebugs are gone now. He had to drive to Lakeland from Melbourne yesterday and said they were already gone. Hope that's true for your drive. They were bad when we were there last week, though. Fortunately there was a big rainstorm that cleaned off his car so we didn't have to wash it. Dale I sure hope they are gone. They were still pretty thick in my area on Sunday. My truck got plastered coming home from church. I didn't see any yesterday on my way home from work but it was pouring rain. Our motorhome is 13' high and it's a real pain to get all the lovebugs off when it gets plastered. I had to deal with it last year when we drove to the panhandle. We will be driving from about 40 miles south of Tampa up to interstate 4 to Orlando. Usually that is a really bad area for lovebugs. As far as my Jeep is concerned, I'm not sure what I am going to do yet. First off, I want to make sure that whatever critter was building the nest has moved on and won't try again. We are taking my wife's 4 door Jeep on our next trip since our niece is coming with us so I am going to put my Jeep in the motor home garage while we are gone. I will address the damage when I get back. I was rear-ended last year and had a claim on my insurance so I am hesitant to call the insurance company. I have a really good mechanic that is very reasonable so I am going to probably take it to him first to see how much it will cost to fix. If it's not a lot of money, I will let him fix it instead of dealing with the insurance company. Burch |

Good morning everyone. It was 47 degrees this morning when we got up. The high today will be in the upper 70's. Yesterday was a cool breezy day. nice to be outside doing yard work. The camper is hooked to the truck and up in the driveway next to the house. We will load it up and get ready to pull out tomorrow morning. Sue is out with Suzie and Dixie for their morning walk while Lizzie is on the back of the couch looking out the window waiting for them to come back. That cat is so attached to Sue and follows her everywhere she goes in the house. When Sue goes outside the cat waits for Sue to return and then there is a lot of talk of "Where have you been?" Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them. |

Good morning everyone. We have another cool morning as we are at 54 degrees right now. Last night we had a visitor on our back deck. Suzie got all excited and started barking and growling so I got up and turned the outside light on and there was an opossum on the wooden deck. I didn't see it until I had let Suzie out, but she ran past him and out into the yard. I called her back before she could find him, but she sure was excited. When I got up this morning he was gone. We will be leaving shortly heading to Modoc for a two day stay. The weather is supposed to be nice so I hope we will enjoy ourselves. I wish everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them. |

Good Morning We are getting ready for a 8 night RV trip. As usual, when we plan a week off, I start having weird issues at work. I work in IT and I think the systems know when I am leaving. I am trying to get out of work tomorrow around 2pm so I can get to Orlando before the traffic gets bad and things here at work keep going crazy. I just hope I don't end up having to work a bunch while I am on vacation. Murphy is still coughing but maybe not quite as much as she was. I tried to get her into the vet this week but the vet was very busy. Hopefully it is nothing but I worry about her. She has her 16th birthday coming up on June 3rd. I am sure all the doggies will be excited when they realize they are going on a trip. I hope everyone has a great day! Burch |
