DF,
I too have never heard of the "black dog syndrome". Just makes me want to single out black dogs at rescues from now on. I agree with previous comments about your local shelter: what kind of shelter are they running ?

Your updates are always appreciated. Isn't Levy a little younger than OF ? Age, above anything else, would account for the lack of interest in "doggie play".

Cleo just turned 10 yesterday. She's still active but there's been a noticeable drop in "play interest" levels over the last 2 years. She still runs around, but much less !

Cheers,
Regine

Levi will be ten years old next April. He has always been full of energy, sometimes too much even for me. There is never a dull moment with him around. It is either love me, love me, love me, or let's play and then love me some more. He doesn't understand that everyone else doesn't always have his lust for life and play. He is a hoot and just full of himself. I believe that he really never sleeps because in that brain of his,--- he is always planning his next point of interest which is what are we going to play next??

That's so funny about the two dogs and Levi trying to get OF to play. Life was not much fun for OF for so long, you can't blame him for being stoic, it's what got him through. I'll bet Levi will eventually wear him down, though, and you'll look out the window one day and catch them playing tag. [emoticon]

I agree with you. Our second beagle had been boarded for a couple months, and left alone quite a bit because her owner was so ill. After being with us and finding her security, she's become the more playful gal. It did take a while, though.

The pics are wonderful!

I took a little trip back in time this afternoon. I started reading the thread from the beginning and went to the end. It brought back so many memories and yes there are still tears when I read. I am so grateful for all that has happened and how through your encouragement I stayed to the course right up to today, I won't say to the end because it is not over,---not by a long shot! You are a generous people full of compassion and for that I am forever in your debt.

Without you there would be no Old Fella and a beautiful story which is still being lived at this moment. There would be no rally in Branson and I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people. In all my life I have never been apart of something so large, so rewarding as this experience has turned out to be. Never in my wildest imagination could I have foreseen all that has come to pass. Something has happened here that has been out of the ordinary in that this thread has continued as long as it has without getting off track and out of bounds. You are to be commended for that. Your regard for Old Fella and myself has been over whelming. Last week, on Tuesday night when things went so bad so quickly, I could feel your prayers and strength that sustained Old Fella and myself all through the night and morning.

You have been a gift so preciously given that words cannot adequately express the real gratitude you deserve. Today and tonight there is peace here on this front, a peace that only faith excerised could bring. You have increased my faith by your actions and good will. May you have all the blessing that you so richly deserve.

Thank you for making dreams come true.

Sigh - that's just an Aussie being an Aussie....

Mine is usually fairly quiet - but still delights in grabbing the bottom of my pants leg as I try to put them on....LOL!!

Yeah, it really is tough to maintain the "man" image when you're blubbering like a baby. I have to make sure I read this in private so as not to hurt my tough guy rep! [emoticon] [emoticon] [emoticon] Of course, the DW knows better anyway and has seen my old softie side before.
Keep up the good work DF. You and the good folks here have been an inspiration to countless others no doubt. I know you have been to my wife and I.
