To the Admin / Moderator, I had a p/u trailer until a mouse chew'd $4700 in damages to it. I have since when back to Tenting. However, I have a little utility trailer I tow with the gear and had been looking to build a cap for it when I found out about Tear Drops & Tiny Travel Trailers. Have you thought about putting up some space for them. They seam to be a very knowledge group from one of their forums I read regularly, and may be able to give regular RV owners some tricks to make repairs / modifications to their rigs at home.

Does anyone know what model name eureka called their modified alpine medows.
The tent was an A-frame with a pole crossing the middle conecting two sidepoles forming bowed window on each side of tent.
I think this tent has been out of production for a number of years.

I am so glad that there is a forum for this subject, since Woodall's as a whole has abandoned us tenters. I am very upset that you guys no longer make a guide for tent campers! I have been tent camping for more than twenty years. I camp mainly as an alternative to the cost of staying at motels! And my car can go places a lot of RV's can't. I prefer to camp at state parks, where the sites are natural and usually grassy, hot showers are available, and they are a lot less noisy than RV parks.Since I live in Florida I have camped at most of the state parks here, and they are great. I recommend Ft Clinch StatePark on Amelia Island, and St Georges Island State Park in the Panhandle. Myakka River State Park is great, too.
I have camped in more than twenty states from Florida to Michigan and from Georgia to Massachusetts. The most beautiful state park I have camped in is Brimley State Park in Michigan, on Lake Superior west of Sioux Ste. Marie.
Tent Camping is inexpensive and emnables me to stay more mobile when on vacation. I do not need all of the ameneties that RV's have, because all I need is at most parks already. I just bought my $20 tent from Wal-Mart, and my car gets 30+ miles per gallon. With my sleeping bag, hammer, tent brush, lantern and fishing pole, I am ready to go! I Love it!!
I would still like to know why you don't publish a Tenting Guide anymore? What year was the last one published? Where can I get copies of Previous years?

Hi everyone.....I just joined the forum!
My husband and I tent camped 20 yrs ago, then went to a PUP, a TT, back to a PUP and are now coming full circle and considering tent camping again!
We bought a nice fishing boat last summer and my husband & I and our 2 chocolate labs just love it! There's nothing like being out on the water.....So we're thinking we could tent camp and pull the boat and have the best of both worlds. We have a Ford F-150 crew cab for the dogs and all the camping gear.
We are thinking about Cabela's Kodiak flex bow tent - the 10X14 size.
Anyone have one of these? Seems to get great reviews.
Biggest question on tent camping (without electricity!!) is what is the best way to make coffee!? Also - tips on tent camping with the dogs...

We also appreciate this new forum on tent camping.. Started there many years ago slowly graduating to cab over, small motor home, and then 4 fifth wheels getting larger and larger. Now with all kids back and the cost of fuel and campground membership going up we sold all including two membership campgrounds that dont allow tent camping. We are now traveling in our little Prius with tent...We are looking for a tent that folds up over the hatch back if anyone knows of any. We will also be checking on forum as we travel across the US. In the past we found many campgrounds that did not allow tenters. Hopefully his forum will identify those that cater to tenters not just those big rigs.

Can't believe you've come full circle to tent camping....I'm liking our idea of it more and more now!

Thanks to this "new normal" economy, more and more of those formerly in grand RVs will get to enjoy all the positive benefits of primitive tent camping. Hi everyone! Say, this is my first time here, as if you wouldn't be able to tell. But anyway, just to save time: I'm a single woman and am about to take off on a camping trip alone. I bought a dome tent, an air bed, will be packing up the SUV and heading out of rainy Seattle. I'm heading South, wherever it warmer!
I haven't camped in 30 years or so, but want to start again
(I'm 60ish now!!!). I don't know anyone who wants to go, so I'm going alone. I have GPS, a cell phone, a laptop and the auto club! And my meager camping gear! Will get anything else needed along the way.
I'm excited to be getting out there. Any pointers for a newbie?

Are you cooking in camp or eating out? A nice stove for a single person is the Coleman single burner Multi-Fuel Stove. Great for one-pot meals. Personally, I'd eat in cool diners and eateries along the way and make sandwiches for the rest of the time. Also, please give someone a general itinerary of your trip, so if something goes wrong, they have a place to start looking for you. Don't be freaked out about personally safety, but take precautions. Who wants to be a statistic? Always carry emergency gear (water, especially!) in case the car breaks down, 'cause it usually ISN'T in a convenient place! Get some of those medi-bath size wet one packs at Wally World. They are great for clean up when showers aren't handy. Wet-Ones type towelettes are a must have in any size. You can clean up you, your car, use them as fire starters after they dry out, or use them as a hanky, after they dry out. etc. Indispensable little invention. I have used them ever since the kids were born over 21 years ago! I am a great believer in reading up on a subject, so if you need pointers, there are a plethora of web-sites for research. Other than that, have a ball and be smart! BTW, I am a 50 year old Mom of 2, a former Marine, and Motorcycle camp all the time!

I found the best way for me to make coffee is to pour boiling water over the paper coffee filter with coffee over one of those plastic cone filter holders that sit over your mug or cup. I use a Coleman 2 burner stove to cook with... Depends how you like your coffee. If you like it Starbucks strong, use 2 heaping tablespoons of ground coffee per 10 OZ cup. (I like the Seattle's best #3 coffee or the Italian or Espresso Starbucks roast)
