We still tent camp, with our Jeep, to CG's or areas that we can't get our FW to. We have a bucket list of those areas and have done only 1 to date, this year, but have tent camped a couple of times.

I will never stop tent camping. It still works for backpacking, river trips, and for the occasional outback trip on rough roads.
I like a canvas wall tent best with a frame. It has a wood stove for cold weather.

I also just discovered this forum!!! Just started camping last year and now I'm addicted. I'm a 64 year old single woman and I love the feeling of doing it "my way". Getting ready for a 6 week road trip in April. Can't wait.

I grew up camping. It runs back 5 generations in my family. I had an outdoor career and still backpack, run rivers and truck camp all the time. I have an RV for long trips and cooler weather.
I have lived in a wall tent for a month at a time running tree planting crews.

ppine, I'm envious. I think my camping and hiking days are over, due to medical conditions. Hang on as long as possible!

A lot of times when there is a will there is a way. Find some young people like grand sons to help you. Sleep on a cot. Bring furniture. Bring plenty of bedding. My uncle Ralph went deer hunting in the last year of his life. My Dad is 93 and still wants to go.

Speaking of tent camping: I just realized the older I get the more important a good air mattress or air pad is for tent camping. ![[emoticon]](http://www.coastresorts.com/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif "smile")

For longer trip now I bring a cot, Thermarest basecamp under a canvas bedroll with foam in it. I use a down bag, pillow and some Pendleton blankets in the cold weather. I sleep better than I do at home.
For short trips by myself I often sleep in the back of the truck with the same bedroll. It is better than a motel.
