Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

And Summit Racing also offers the same thing, for a bit more than Mancini.

(Summit is back on my supplier list after they changed to more realistic shipping policy for Alaskans.)

My inclination would be Mancini first, Summit second, and Moparts third.

Yes, I know ECU is often used ... and tends to cause massive confusion. (It's similar to ordering hash browns in Korea ... you'll get tatter tots.)

One of the people who signed my high school yearbook wrote that they expected to see me some day, on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, fixing an old decrepit truck. (Never happened, 'cause I usually fix 'em before I get to the middle of nowhere.)

I like Mancini. They’ve been very helpful to me...and I sent a friend there in person who has a Roadrunner and they hooked him up immediately with what he needed rather than what he asked for.

All the pics on the Rock Auto pages look just like the one I have.

At this point anything is probably better than the one I have. Oh, and the leaking stuff IS sticky. My mistake. And it is also leaking around the top component too. Not good.

ALL Dodge ignition modules look the same, both OEM and aftermarket. As with women, it's what's inside that important.

The Chrysler label is significant. Unless it's an illegal knockoff, it's a genuine Mopar part. (Haven't you heard me refer to Mother Mopar and her five sons? The sons are Chrysler, Plymouth, De Soto, Dodge, and Fargo ... Imperial was a stepchild.)

I'm not trying to tell you to keep the old one ... especially considering you believe it is failing. Instead, I want you to make sure what you get is equal to or better than the original, before it went to hell.

I'd have to personally see your old one. (In my hands, not in a picture.) So, I have to believe you. Get a replacement but make sure what you're getting is top quality, reliable, and long-lasting.

If the heat sink doesn't work, here is the link for the GM HEI conversion

I had all sorts of starting issues with my clipper. Intermittent bouts of no spark, etc. Replaced coil, resistor, etc., only to have it happen again. Once I made this mod I haven't had any more problems and I don't need to carry spare resistors anymore.

Toedtoes,

The link you provided is just to a forum. Could you post a more specific link and/or explain more about what the mod is you are talking about?

Thanks.

I am aware of the HEI Conversion. I have read a lot of the info and guides on doing it. I have considered it and decided it doesn't suit me.

This is due to a personal bias I'm well aware I have. Because of my bias, I don't think it'd be appropriate for me to comment on it.

Google "Dodge HEI Conversion" and read/research what's involved. Then, decide for yourself.

If you decide to go this route, I won't be able to help you with problems ... I simply don't know enough to be of any help.

The instructions are on the forum. There's a schematic further down the page.

It really doesn't change anything for the most part. Just instead of going through the mopar ignition module and resistor, you go through a GM module.

The main difference is that it provides a full spark whereas the mopar setup gives you a reduced spark.

I couldn't fit the HEI coil in my doghouse, so I stayed with the standard.

The weekend i plan to pick up my beauty :-) The previous owner of my Dodge told me today, that he did a test drive and now the right rear brake drums stock on. Hmmmmm, he will try to solve the problem. I saw a list of '79 sportsman wheel brake cylinders and there is not only 1 model, but 3 different. I am waiting now for the number of the old wheel brake cylinder which is inside :-/
The last 8 year the car was not moved. The previous owner started every month the engine for 30 minutes without driving or using the brakes.
