She still won't start. There's a little rod or something in the bay where the fuel pump goes in. I gotta look up how to put that in correctly. She's still just cranking. I'm about to call a mechanic if I can't get her to start tomorrow. AAAGGGGH It's about 107 in Midland, and the vehicle is parked over a mesquite bush. I want this to be over lol.

You might want to consider putting a block off plate on the engine and going to an electric pump. (Low pressure pump because you have a carburetor.) If you do go to an electric pump, and haven't had time to put in a crash switch, make sure the pump is off whenever the engine isn't running. (The old mechanical pumps quit working whenever the engine was off but electric pumps will keep pumping as long as they have electricity. MLP will have in-tank electric pumps and a crash switch ... less hassled and pumps work better pushing rather than sucking. 1970 Explorer Class A on a 1969 Dodge M300 chassis with 318 cu. in. OneDeadChicken wrote: That rod in there just sets at the end of the fuel pump rod and go's up to the cam shaft That is just like an extension for the pump arm,...And if you put a plate on there so you can use an electric fuel pump you must take that shaft out of there it will just pull out if you get something that you can get hold of the end and just pull it out.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've been able to be on. The ignition module is on the firewall next to the Ballest Resistor. I'm sure there's a way to test them... but I couldn't tell you what it is. I could probably get a photo in a day or two. I ran into an issue this past weekend. Totally cooked the power center. Best I can tell... The breakers and power bar are riveted to the case on a fiberglass wafer board. The power bar was simply screwed into the board with two screws and after 30+ years... finally pulled themselves through, apparently hit/arced with one of the breakers and melted everything, burning the board, and shutting down everything on the camper. Surprisingly enough, it didn't trip a single breaker anywhere. Fortunately, it also didn't catch the camper on fire. PHEW! Anyway, We pulled all the wiring, we pulled the entire power center out, disconnected everything... drilled out the board... fashioned a new backing "washer" for the power bar screws, a re-riveted the board back into the power center, re-installed the power center and pulled about 6 more inched of wiring into the box so we could cut, and discard the wiring with the melted, cooked, and burned insulation. Everything but the air conditioner is hooked back up. That wire was just too short, we're going to have to put in a junction box to get it to the breaker. But we plugged it back in and stood back... Nothing blew up, and everything seemed to be working just fine. So far, no problems. This weeks project will be to get the air conditioner hooked up. Phew... $200+ dollars saved. Took most of Fathers day, (Hope all you other fathers had a better day) but we got it done and its still working. Probably more solid than when it was first built. |

Heard from Trish today. The bones have knitted; the muscles haven't as yet. She was searching for a physical therapist while she emailed me. She's still using a cane and can't bend, but she is improving.... '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |
