I have a 1980 Dodge Country Camper Class C. I love it. I just got it in Feb. and have repainted the inside, ripped out the old couch and installed a new one, got new mattresses for the beds. My husband is a fiberglasser so he's going to fix a couple of the roof leaks. I would give anything for a manual for it. I still haven't been able to figure out most of the buttons, how to get the generator going, why when I fill it up with propane, the propane just comes shooting back out 15 minutes after I get it home from the station, why none of the plugs work but everything else electrical works fine. It's a grand old girl that needs TLC. Got any ideas? |

Snowyegret, Do your plugs not work when plugged into power. In my old 74 the outlets only work off of shore power. When running on my battery they don't work. Only lights and the water pump. One of your breakers might not be working, I have no idea what is wrong with your propane,, better take that to a professional, I had a friend who owns a Heating and Air business and he checked my system out before I filled it up. I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

Most businesses that deal primarily with propane (NOT gas stations or other fill-only stations) can and will check out your system for a nominal fee or even free. Let me guess: You have a permanently mounted tank. What's probably happening is the fill station is over filling it and the excess is being vented after the propane warms up and pressure builds up. (They're not necessarily doing it intentionally but they are selling you a bit extra propane that you won't use because it vents out sometime after you leave the station.) Most places that sell propane on a secondary basis have become used to, and rely on, OPD (Overfill Prevention Device) valves and don't really know how to fill tanks that have ordinary valves. (That's another reason I hate OPD's, in addition to the fact they gum up and quit functioning well before they should ... but it's the LAW.) Before OPD's came along, I sometimes had problems with some place overfilling standard 20 pound tanks (like the ones on barbecues). More than once, I had to pull over and open the valve for a short period to vent off built up pressure from too much propane. Back then, I simply quit buying from anyone who overfilled and stuck with business that knew what they were doing. 1970 Explorer Class A on a 1969 Dodge M300 chassis with 318 cu. in. You press the On side and hold it down until the generator starts, then let go. If the generator hasn't been run in some time then it may need servicing before it will start. These will only work if you are either plugged into shore power or when the generator is running. The outlets require 120v AC and everything else uses 12v DC.
