Any y'all old Dodgers ever have one that fell on it's face while going uphill? Got mine insured, inspected and tagged today, and while on the way to get the propane tank filled...I encountered the problem. It runs like a champ anywhere but uphill. It has an electric fuel pump at the tank, which feeds to the mechanical pump on the motor. Tried it with the electric pump on, and off.....didn't make a difference. I looked at the fuel filter up underneath it, and it looks like it's been there a few decades! I'm gonna change it tomorrow. I hope that's it....I'm bummed out about it! We have it all fixed up and was ready to head to Bristol and camp at the car show this weekend, but I ain't heading across the mountain till I'm sure it's fixed. Some basic info about the rig. 79 Class C Dodge with a 440,dual exhaust, factory thermoquad. It's been sitting for about 4 months, so it might have some condensation too. I'm gonna pour in a bottle or two of rubbing alcohol when I go fill it up after I replace the filter. It has a plastic gas tank, so I don't think it will be a rust issue. Any ideas appreciated.
Change your spark plugs And buy a good brand of plugs.

Sounds like your problem is poor spark.

If it was a spark issue, wouldn't it do it all the time? It's only as it goes uphill. The rest of the time, it runs like a gut shot cat!

I think I repaired my uphill stumble with carb adjustments or rebuild. Don't remember now... it was a while ago that it went away. Since it's a constant work in progress... [emoticon]

I had the same thing on the Merc ('41).
Make sure the fuel pump is big enough. Car Quest sold me a thing for a Barbie-mobile.

I still have my burnt orange seats and table cushions too, Ya think there is room in the movies for a part 1979 and part 2010 Dodge..LOL[emoticon]

Probably... JJ Abrams, the Star Trek guy, is directing it.
He likes aliens, so your 'partial 2010 Mopar' is from the future.

Orange/brown/tan cross-hatch front seats, lime-green dinette table, counter top, and same color vinyl trim in the back in the back.
All I need now is a disco ball, some strobe lights, and I'm set!
(oh...and a bucket and some rags to catch and soak up the roof leaks! [emoticon] )

I have had a long day; got up at 3 am for a 5:30 call.
My hamstring hurts again after hobbling all over PNC Park.
And your description just shattered what's left of my bi-focular vision.

I wonder ...is it only Dodge owners who carry on about our hideous interiors. Probably. ;-)

UPDATE!! Got it fixed!! I ended up dropping the tank when the inline filter up by the transmission didn't pan out to be nasty. When I dropped the tank,I found the 5/16 rubber line that goes from the tank to the electric pump in the back....was smushed in one place and rotten in another place with a hole in it. It was sucking air big time! I took the pickup out of the tank, and the sock looked like it had been drug down a red clay Georgia road for a hundred miles. Wouldn't clean out no matter how much I sprayed it with cleaner....so I tossed it and cut a filter in line between the tank and the electric pump. I also changed every piece of rubber fuel line on the beast! I cleaned the tank out,put new gas in it...and no more stumble! Took it up the toughest hills I could find, and no problems at all. Thanks for all the ideas.
