Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Excellent! Great job....and now you don't have to wonder about that stuff in the future.

I wonder ...is it only Dodge owners who carry on about our hideous interiors. Probably. ;-)

Yup...and you helped me add the 70s back into my interior, in case you've forgotten [emoticon]

Oi, the plaid cushions...I had forgotten about those.
The one I kept got soaked when the hot water tank sprung a leak.
Am I lucky or what.

Leeann-- batten down. Earl is not a nice fellow.

Yup, the plaid cushions.

Battened...the generator tank is full, the tarp is strapped to the roof of the rv, the tarp is strapped over the boat, etc.

So, the question is...in the process of redoing my rig...
Do I keep the 70's motif? Or go with the whole "all gray/black/white more modern" look that everything seems to have these days?
Do I get any extra cool points if I stay in the 70's or do I lose all of my cool points the minute somebody besides me sees any orange anywhere!

Proud owner of a 73 Dodge Sportsman VIVA 2000. Brand new to the RV world. Looking for a manual to help me figure out the on board systems. First of many questions is my Aux. battery deing charged when plugged into shore power?

JGrande,

Welcome to the forum!

There was a battery and charger discussion a few pages back, here.

Also you will find a lot of info here:

BATTERIES--AND OTHER ELECTRIC STUFF

The 12v Side of Life

The short answer about the aux battery being charged when on shore power is yes, but. If it is like mine it is charged at only 3 amps and a constant 13.6v. 3amps is not much so the battery will take forever to charge. And a constant 13.6v will cause the water to boil off fairly quickly.

I disconnect my battery from the converter and charge it with a portable battery charger when on shore power. This charger is a 3 stage charger that charges at up to 35amps and automatically varies the voltage and shuts off to keep the battery properly maintained.

You will not find a manual that covers all the inside appliances--you will need to look for ones for each appliance. You will find a lot of info here on the forum (do a search for whatever info you need). If you can't find it, ask here.

And good luck getting Good Sam to reimburse you...
I mailed out the reimbursement "application" yesterday. I will keep you up to date. [emoticon]

That above quote was from 8/10/10.

Today (8/20/10), they called me and said the "application" has been approved for reimbursement. He (Eric) said I should receive the check within 3 to 4 weeks. [emoticon] I guess I will not believe it until I cash the check and it clears.

He also said they are investigating why I did not receive service faster the night I was broke down. I will keep this updated.

Well yesterday (9/3/10), I received the reimbursement check. It took two weeks from the time that they called me. A little over 3 weeks from the time I mailed out the application etc.

See Picture In My Profile
I have a 1989 Dodge XPLORER RV Class B - Purchased 10/15/10 IN CASH
Fiance' purchased a Class C 2002 Dynamax Carri-go on 5/1/15 IN CASH
We've got the best of both worlds

^ Not bad at all. Did you hear anything about why you didn't get service faster?

THey said they are going to "look in" to why that happened so it does not happen in the future.

skimask--

You only lose cool points if you wear 40-inch bells or platforms while driving.

I re-did my Travco interior (pics on this thread, Leeann posted them for me) because my wood was worn, greasy and stained. No, I mean "stained," as in deliberately yet badly.

I opted for a "clean look," to h%ll with what's popular. I prefer lighter woods, so poplar, beech and luan became my friends. Too much paneling looks like too much paneling, period.

Google some of the Avion and Airstream interiors from the early '60's and you'll see what I mean --they look sleek and finished, not ponderous, dark and heavy.

Except for the curtains. The only curtains I've ever liked are the sets my mom & I made for our old Avion and the ones I made for the Travco. Go with a heavier material in a lighter shade. Just not mauve.

Here's a thing about cushions no one remembers: keep the zippers! Use your old upholstery as a pattern, but re-use your zippers. Horrible expensive, especially the good metal ones.
