I will figure something out as in building some type of box. (Best wishes old&slow.) The output from the genset would be flex conduit to a 120vac sub panel that may or may not have a circuit breaker(s) installed. From there it would route to the shore cord compartment with wither romex or flex conduit to a 30a RV receptacle in a junction box. This jbox is the poor mans transfer switch as you need to plug the shore cord into it to get power from the genset to the inside and the chances of it failing are nil. Ken Thanks for the information Ken. Today, I had to look for some missing clearance markers (red and yellow) and a headhight. I have to give NAPA their props. They had all the parts I needed where Autozone and Advance Auto Parts did not. * This post was edited 09/12/08 03:44pm by goreds2 * See Picture In My Profile I have a 1989 Dodge XPLORER RV Class B - Purchased 10/15/10 IN CASH Fiance' purchased a Class C 2002 Dynamax Carri-go on 5/1/15 IN CASH We've got the best of both worlds |

Has anyone ever painted the old cabinets in these RV's? I am thinking of painting them white. (Bad idea?) Thanks, |

Personally not a fan, but to each their own, and it does really lighten the interior. I'm not sure what I would do if the cabinets where really unsightly. On the way home this weekend, the windshield wipers just quite. There was kinda a metallic klanging sound as I shut them off at one point and I didn't realize what it was until I try to turn them back on. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet as it's been raining ever since, but could someone take a picture of there's or send a diagram? I have a '79 cab. Thanks. good news... everything seems to be sealed up fairly well now. I just picked up a set of Siphon 360 vent covers, but didn't get a chance to install them before all the rain this weekend. Everything else was pretty dry. |

goreds, I just painted the inside of mine. I had to replace all the paneling in the overhead due to water damage.(it was there when I bought it, but turned out worse than I thought) I couldn't match what was already there so I made the decision to put new luan in the overhead and paint the whole thing so it would all match. I wasn't sure I liked it as I started but when it was all done I like the way it turned out. I painted the walls one color with cabinet drawer fronts and doors a correlating color. I will have some pics eventually and will post them. I also had to replace some ceiling panel and couldn't match the vinyl covered ply there either so I painted the entire ceiling white. I tested it in a closet first to check for reaction and it seemed fine so I went ahead. Although maybe not the best way to go, it worked well for us in this situation. I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

Eyeteeth, >On the way home this weekend, the windshield wipers just quite. A few messages back in this thread there is a discussion of the windshield wiper bushings. This is probably what failed in yours too. |

Our plan is to paint the cabinets white as well. For one, the drawer and door fronts are brown patterned plastic. Yes, plastic. And they're a lighter brown than the facings, probably due to fading, so the plan is just to paint it all slightly off-white, to provide contrast with the bright white stuff we'll be putting on the ceiling. Yep, NAPA has all the listings for our rigs, if you can find someone who'll look it up in the paper catalog for you. I have a local parts place that's better on price and has a guy who knows all about old Mopars, so I go there. This is the guy that looked at our brake light switch (discontinued) and said, I think this'll work for you with a couple of fender washers. And he was right - same length, narrower body. Works great. And it isn't in the catalog. '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

Thanks everyone for your comments in the above posts. I cannot belive how much insurance is on these older homes! Only $77 a year for liability. Just over $100 a year for full coverage. ![]() |

Has anyone washed the cushion covers on these old RV's? If so, what wash cycle should they be cleaned in? Thanks, |
