Kendas, I too own a classic 78 Tioga class C but have a 24'. Most appliances have been replaced except the Generac genset. It cranks easy. Only 460 hours on the meter. I am 74 and downsized from a class A. This rig drives so nice and the 18 'ers don't suck me around. Only one thing, I have the 440 and it's kinda loud @ 60. Is this normal. I find no exhaust leaks. The new engine only has about 15,000 miles as per the PO. Also has no engine or tranny oil leaks. Was worried about the tranny life but this thread has been so helpful and I find the tranny with good service can last several hundred thousand miles. Wow. |

Yep, the 440 being loud at 60 is pretty normal. Check the insulation on your doghouse and see if it needs to have a layer added to it or have it all replaced. If it needs to be replaced, use good stuff for under hoods/on firewalls and it should make a big difference. We haven't done ours yet because we need to rebuild it first (we have an A) and we're going to redesign it a little. '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

LeeAnn, I have a 74 Brougham... they are out of business since about 85 and I don;t have a manuel.. I don;t think mine is ABS... I have a uni-tank on my little rig... its kind of clear looking... I probably just need to go to the RV repair place and ask them what they think and if they have anything that might work... I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

My black tank is also my grey tank. If yours is clear looking, it probably isn't ABS. Mine is actually black. You might also try a plastic welding kit - we got one from Harbor Freight for next to nothing, but we haven't tried it yet (the ABS epoxy is holding for the moment). |

I think I'd make that tradeoff. Good ![]() How much were they, if you don't mind me asking? In my case it came out to just over $275. That's not terrible for the handling improvement...

Old & Slow wrote: As Leeann said "Normal". Mine has a Flowmaster exhaust with 3 inch pipe that exits in front of the left duals so we never have the drivers window open when traveling. Again as Leeann says, make sure that the doghouse insulation is good and is firmly attached to the under side.

Almost all the roads here in MD have off camber turns, too - they actually improve in design (but not in repair) when you get to PA ![]() Sam complains about 'em mightily. |
